Useful Idiots and Usual Suspects

When one is looking for individuals who occupy BOTH categories above, one couldn't start with a better list than College Presidents.

Especially College Presidents who are Signaling Ecological Virtue.  It's something about which none of them are particularly well-versed, but all of them "know" stuff, and the stuff they know is that humans=bad.

The Warrior finds 200 or so, including the presidents of Marquette U., St. Norbert's, and the "Chief Environmental Officer" of the Sacred Heart priests in Franklin.
(Go ahead, ask WTF?)

As to "useful idiots," ask any Marxist what that means.  Local Marxist retailing can be found anyplace there is a "community organizer."

Hillary Does NOT Fear "Special Counsel"

The art of war.  Hillary knows that her time outside of a graybar hotel may be getting short, so she does a ju-jitsu.

...Hillary Clinton is actually showing she is afraid for the first time. In a Mother Jones interview earlier this week she lashed out at the Trump administration over the possibility of a special counsel investigating Uranium One....

This is Br'er Rabbit yelling "Don't throw me into the briar patch!".

What she really fears is an investigation of Bill (or the Clinton Foundation) by either chamber of Congress OR the A.G., which will necessarily "rope her in."

Special Counsel won't really do jack.  No prison-time for what they do.

Belling Becomes a Pain in the Ass

Very brief background:  Senate presents their version of the tax bill.  Ron Johnson screeches--it treats S-corp and LLC's far worse, tax-wise, than C-corps.  RoJo says it won't get his vote as presented.

Sensenbrenner, an (R) congresscritter also from Wisconsin, tells Belling that he doesn't have to be an attention-whore like other people (HINT HINT) to get stuff done.  Sensenbrenner just calls Paul Ryan and gee-whillikers, it gets fixed!!

(Sensenbrenner's stale date was 2000, but never mind.)

Belling goes rant-on, RoJo comes on the show, and Belling--lacking a coherent reason to piss all over RoJo--just badgers him endlessly.  And that's really all it was:  badgering.  "What If...." crap.

There WAS a very important bit of news there, by the way.

Ryan lied to RoJo when Ryan said it would be included in the first House plan.  Suddenly--after RoJo screeched--Ryan, Trump, and McConnell find it necessary to pay attention to RoJo.

Really, now.  Paul Ryan lying?  Bring out my SHOCKED face.

And Belling was so damn busy acting like Sensenbrenner's bitch that he missed it.

You Will Be MADE to Accept It

In the tumultuous decline of America and the West, another minor--but significant--milestone.

...The recent uproar over a social work course titled “Deviant Behavior” at Franciscan University of Steubenville—which lists homosexuality as a form of deviant behavior—demonstrates just how vigilant the gay community remains in confronting anyone who might suggest that homosexual behavior could be anything but normal. It also shows how difficult it is for faithful Catholic institutions to teach students what the Church says about the nature of homosexual acts....

...The dispute at the Steubenville, Ohio university emerged when two graduates —both members of the Franciscan Gay Alumni and Allies Facebook group—issued a press release complaining about the course description, which lists homosexuality as a form of deviant behavior. The group has demanded that the university revise its course descriptions “to stop contributing to the culture of hate and ignorance.”...

And the "accrediting agency" for college social-work courses was called in.  They are "concerned."

Franciscan U. will have a problem when the "concern" leads to a war over accreditation.

...for faithful Catholics, social justice demands that the teachings of the Church be followed. The Catechism of the Catholic Church requires that homosexual persons be treated with “respect, compassion, and sensitivity” (2358). Yet Catholic teachings also maintain that homosexual acts are “intrinsically disordered” (2357).  Whether that teaching will be viewed as a violation of the rights of homosexual persons by the accrediting council remains to be seen....

Good luck with that.  Franciscan was ill-advised to institute a "social work" curriculum in the first place--but that's water over the dam.  Now they will face a nasty choice, eh?

A Nuker Calls Out Idiot Shep Smith, Demi-Idiot Goldberg

The Captain is a nuker.  Read enough of his blog (I have for several years) and you'll understand that.  FWIW, a close friend of mine (now deceased) was also a nuker--they all talk the same when on The Topic.  Another nuker is a reader of this blog and he will NOT dispute what the Captain has to say here.

Anyhow.  Shep Smith is a moron, Andy McCarthy is out of his league...

...It is true that hyperbole about national security and treason is not helping people’s understanding of what this is about. Uranium One has never primarily been a national-security controversy. It is a corruption controversy with some national-security aspects, which are related to domestic energy supply, not nuclear weapons.”

He’s wrong, and it’s almost a waste of time and air to say that Goldberg and Smith are wrong since they are such lightweights on the matter.  We need a reliable and inexpensive source of raw nuclear material for nuclear security, and we also need universities to continue to have and fund nuclear engineering programs.  Without commercial nuclear power, there will be no nuclear engineers, and without nuclear engineers there will be no nuclear weapons program.  Without nuclear engineers and reactors, there will be no Tritium for weapons, which is created by activation of Lithium, because we won’t be able to create the high neutron flux necessary to make enough Tritium.  In order to have these reactors to create the Tritium, we need enriched nuclear fuel.

This is all vital to our national security.  There is no further discussion necessary over this question.  Better said, there isn’t even a question about it.  This isn’t primarily about a scandal, and secondarily about appurtenant national security issues.  This is about a scandal that runs so far, deep and wide that certain people would sell out the national security of nation for small payoffs....

The Captain's fight here, sadly, is not against Conservatives, nor even against some Liberals.  The fight is against the vast, vast, vast level of pure ignorance on matters nuke.  At least some of us are smart enough to say "I dunno."

UPDATE:  Shep Smith is not only an idiot.  Apparently he took "Reporting 101" from CNN--and failed the rest of his courses.

The Non-Compliance Rebellion Is Coming

The Captain sends the following:

Murphy’s office pointed The Hill to comments made last week by Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas), who said that he would talk to Democrats about strengthening background checks – an initiative that gained some bipartisan momentum earlier this month after a gunman opened fire on a church in southern Texas, killing 26 people.

Cornyn has been a driving force in the GOP for strengthening background checks since the Nov. 5 shooting. He told reporters last week that he would work with Democrats to close gaps in the system, and that he had spoke to Murphy, as well as Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) about the matter.  --quoting The Hill

As Captain observes, that means father-to-son, (etc.) transfers will no longer be legal.  Another Captain observation?

Prepare for noncompliance.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Chamber of Commerce to Citizens: "Screw You!"

The US Chamber of Commerce has a problem with native-born Americans--and their native-born ancestors.

It thinks they are useless pieces of crap.

...The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has posted two billboards in front of the White House which declare America was built by foreign ‘Dreamers,’ not by native-born Americans, who apparently have no place in the billboards or in America’s society....

Your landscaper only likes your money, just like your roofer.  Screw your parents.

Civil War in the Church, Climate Part

Pp. Francis is wrong again.  And it's not just vis-a-vis marriage.

Humanity is currently experiencing a “climate emergency,” Pope Francis said, while decrying denial of human-induced climate change as a perverse attitude that endangers all....

This "human-induced" stuff is pure crap.  Bergoglio is either a dupe or a dangerous propagandist.

In either case, he should proceed directly to answering the Dubia vis-a-vis his revolutionary "marriage" letter and shut up about areas in which he has zero--ZERO--knowledge.

Sex, Sin, and Shame in the Brave New World

Corollary to Deneen's thoughts (see below) is the exposition of the current sex-shaming going on.

The Sexual Revolution is now out of control. Initially promising freedom, like all revolutions, it has entered something like its Reign of Terror phase and is devouring its own children. As with other revolutions, it is not because the revolutionaries enjoy broad popular support; it is because civic and religious leaders are confused, divided, and cowed into silence....

...What we do have—as many long ago warned we would have—is a highly sexualized culture controlled by men and women who have succeeded in changing the terms of sexuality because they have both ideological and pecuniary interests in using sex as a financial tool and a political weapon. Privileged men and women have thrown off virtually all controls on sexual indulgence, which they can use not only for personal self-gratification but also—and quite predictably—as the means to advance their careers, accumulate wealth, eliminate rivals, punish opponents, extort money, and generally acquire political power. These practices are especially rampant in the commanding heights of our culture: the media, universities, Hollywood, television, and the fashion industry,...

The author does not specifically mention Washington D.C., nor any State capital--nor any municipalities--but there should be NO doubt that there's plenty of weaponized sex goin' on there.  I'm willing to bet $large$ that certain Party Poobahs have video, stills, or tape recordings that they use to secure votes and shut opposing mouths in all those places.

...In short, sexual ideologues have created a new political theology, replete with a politicized, government-approved definition of sin. Or in other words, they eliminated religious sin and replaced it with political crime. Rather than removing the shame and stigma of the “fornicator” and “adulterer” as they promised, they have simply replaced it with that of the “abuser” and “harasser.” In the process they have replaced morality with ideology, and community standards with themselves as the sole arbiters of innocence and guilt.

Is there a difference? Yes. The traditional sins were clear and precise, they applied equally to all, they were enforced by apolitical authorities like parents, churches, and local communities, and the punishment was social disapproval and ostracism. By contrast, the new ideological crimes are vague and lack any fixed definition, only men can be guilty of them, and they are enforced by lawyers and gendarmes and punishable with lawsuits and prison....

Have no doubts, my friends.  THIS is the construct of "liberalism" which Deneen addresses in his book.  THIS--the re-construction of sexual offenses from sin to ideology is the American version of  Stalin's Thought Crimes.  The Brave New World is here and ready to mow down anyone in its path.

Deneen: The Failure of Liberalism

Happily, Patrick Deneen has authored a new book!!

Unhappily--for Liberals--it critiques their conceits.  And by "Liberals" I mean the "classical" Liberals who have spawned the current (~1900-present) debacle-in-the-making in the USA and elsewhere in the West.

Just a few zingers:

...Whether we concur with Professor Deneen’s final judgments or no, Why Liberalism Failed is a must-read for anyone wishing to contribute to pivotal contemporary debates about religion, politics, law, and ethics. On almost every page can be found some remarkable and provocative quote. “Among the greatest challenges facing humanity is the ability to survive progress.” Thanks to liberalism, “everywhere, at every moment, we are to engage in experiments in living.” In the twenty-first century, “training at dorm parties and the fraternities of one’s college were the ideal preparation for a career in the mortgage bond market, and the financial frat party of Wall Street more generally,” for “the mortgage industry rested upon the financial equivalent of college ‘hookups’.”...

It's a book which, not surprisingly, will please Steve Bannon:

The “Noble Lie” of liberalism is shattering because it continues to be believed and defended by those who benefit from it, while it is increasingly seen as a lie, and not an especially noble one, by the new servant class that liberalism has produced. Discontent is growing among those who are told by their leaders that their policies will benefit them […] liberalism’s apologists regard pervasive discontent, political dysfunction, economic inequality, civic disconnection, and populist rejection as accidental problems disconnected from systemic causes, because their self-deception is generated by enormous reservoirs of self-interest in the maintenance of the present system. This divide will only widen, the crises will become more pronounced, the political duct tape and economic spray paint will increasingly fail to keep the house standing.

And --!!HORRORS!! --it has a few words of comfort for elements of the AltRight:

...The liberal fixation upon indistinguishable rights-bearing individuals is what renders liberalism practically unsustainable and morally incoherent, for such a vision excludes the most critical relationships and dimensions of human life. We are not merely individuals, but are also sons or daughters or parents or siblings, Catholics or Protestants or Jews. Human beings cherish their membership in particular communities, traditions, and nations, and a system that refuses to take such profound commitments into account must in the long run prove dehumanizing. Even as liberalism further “liberates” individuals into increasingly formless, meaningless, and narcissistic isolation, it ignores “a deeper freedom, the freedom of intergenerational connections with the world and one another.”...

In other words, "multi-culti" is pure bullshit, and poisonous to any coherent society.

Damn glad to see the book.  Put it on your Christmas list!

Commit Crimes? Run for President, Get Out of Jail Free!

Noted at Althouse, combined with a very smart remark in her combox.

"...But if [Sessions] or his deputy authorizes a new investigation of Mrs. Clinton, it would shatter norms established after Watergate that are intended to prevent presidents from using law enforcement agencies against political rivals....."  NYSlimes quoted at Althouse

So yah!!!  Have a heinous crime in your background?  Think it might be prosecutable?  Run for President!!  The NYSlimes will cover your ass.

By the way,  who the f*&^ "established" those "norms"?  Gerry Ford?  Bill Clinton?  Bush the Ass-Grabber?  Or the NYSlimes?  At one time, slavery was "the norm," too....

Another Law School Grad Makes the News

He's one of the 95% that makes the 5% look bad, I guess.

A New Jersey attorney nude from the waist down save for a pair of high heels strutted into a stranger’s Rutherford home and announced “I’m here,” police said.

Justin Christodoro, 39, of Hackensack, subsequently was arrested in neighboring Lyndhurst on Saturday after a resident returned home to find an unknown car with an unconscious man inside parked in his driveway,...

Fourteen years as a member of the Bar, up in.......oh, well.  Yes, he's a "DUI specialist" and yes, it was MDMA.

Say WHAAAAT, Church Militant?

We all sorta understand that there are problems in the US Catholic Church, and some of those problems are in New York City.

But that's not an excuse for the ridiculously-stupid "reporting"--really, incoherent panting--here.

According to financial records analyzed by Church Militant, the archdiocese of New York has lost more than $122 million in the last eight years in operating expenses for Archdiocesan Services....

This is a story written by a financial illiterate.  The "losses" here are exactly what any normie expects:  a charity (the Archdiocese) spends money, and relies on DONATIONS to fund that spending.  That's not a "loss."  That's utterly-boring normal.

Oh, yes, it gets worse.

...One such homosexual priest, Fr. Peter Miqueli, was found guilty by the Bronx district attorney of wrongfully aquiring [sic] $22,450...

In the United States, a JUDGE or JURY 'finds someone guilty,' not a District Attorney.  Did you show up for all your 7th-grade Civics classes?  Did you pass?  Really??

We get it.  There's trouble, and men with a specific grave disorder are costing the Church a lot of money.  But that's not an excuse for blatant stupidity.

ONLY Uranium-One, Jeff? You're Kidding, Right?

It is reported that A.G. Sessions is considering an investigation into Uranium-One, Hillary's last major self-funding op while she was in office serving the United States herself.

Meantime, that stuff about ESPIONAGE ACT violations goes un-mentioned.

Screw that, Jeff.  Get your ass in gear or just go home.

McConnell, the Failure

The Washington Examiner is not a Friend of Bannon, nor a hard-line conservative outfit.  So when even the Examiner says that McConnell is a failure, .....well......

...While long considered a canny operator, the reality is that McConnell has been unsuccessful in leading Senate Republicans in the current environment. And the decision to treat his critics as adversaries suggests that he would rather deflect blame for his missteps than rise above a conflict that threatens to tear his party apart.

The perception of McConnell’s tenure as Republican leader is belied by its reality. ...the reality is that 2017 is almost over and McConnell has yet to deliver on his promise. Instead, Republicans are at risk of squandering the best opportunity to enact their agenda in more than a decade...

...While leaders have always blamed their adversaries for their shortcomings, McConnell’s willingness to blame his fellow partisans sets him apart....

There's more than a hint of "double-cross" oozing from that essay; methinks McConnell has made plenty of enemies besides DeMint, Cruz, Bannon, and Lee.   Mitch's problem is his friends:  Schumer & Co.

Buh-bye, slimebucket!

Clinton Statistics

Someone has discovered a statistic about the Clintons.

According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control released on Thursday, people with inside, compromising knowledge of Bill and Hillary Clinton’s financial and political dealings are 843% more likely to commit suicide.

“We’ve never seen a single risk factor cause a spike of this magnitude,” a CDC spokesperson told reporters. “Interestingly, in spite of their increased suicide risk, people with dirt on the Clintons rarely show any warning signs of suicide, and they never leave a suicide note.”...

Many of these suicides have been unique.  Some victims were apparently run over by their own cars while in the middle of an intersection in out-of-the-way places in Arkansas.  Others committed suicide with a .45 caliber hole made vertically in the very top of their heads while flying in a cargo plane.  Others shot themselves, but the gun could not be found anywhere.  (Some of these people had shot themselves in the back!)

'Tis a puzzlement.

Laugh-Line of the Week

Apparently Judge Moore has acquired another accuser.  You can read the story here.

However, this graf deserves special attention:

....Senator Cory Gardner, the National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman, said of Mr Moore on Monday: "If he refuses to withdraw and wins, the Senate should vote to expel him, because he does not meet the ethical and moral requirements of the United States Senate."....

Ponder that.  The Senate of "Killer Ted" Kennedy, "Sandwich-Waitress" Dodd, "Teeny-Bopper Bopper" Menendez.....and let's not get into the "Suddenly Much Richer" senators of both parties, or into the filthiest double-dealing slimeball in recent history, Harry Reid.  Or was it Hillary Clinton?

"Ethical and Moral" should never be in the same sentence as United States Senate, Mr. Gardner.

Jebby Mag-a-rag Pops the Question

This is amusing.  Someone is following the events at the US Bishop's meeting.

...One very interesting thing happened outside the meeting, at the press conference after the morning sessions. A press representative from America Magazine asked whether divisive, renegade, misrepresentations of Catholicism, especially in social media, were being adequately addressed by the bishops....

In fact, what America wants is to stifle any points of view NOT from America or from the USCCB's own press office.  But I repeat myself.

Tesla Quality Sucks, Too

So Musk--a legend in his own mind--is pushing out Tesla Model 3s that, frankly, suck.

...Tesla’s Model 3 is being trashed by a key automotive industry analyst after taking the compact battery-electric vehicle for a test drive....the new sedan is going after everyday owners who may have only one vehicle at home. As such, getting quality right is expected to be a critical challenge for the California-based automaker....

...“Our inspection revealed widespread shortcomings in fit and finish ,” wrote Bernstein analyst Toni Sacconaghi, after taking the Model 3 for a test drive out of Tesla’s showroom in Brooklyn. “Tesla representatives acknowledged some of the fit issues, but stated that they believed that Model 3 was much further ahead than where Model X and S had been at this point in production.”...

"Much further ahead?"  REALLY?  That'll be great comfort to the proud Tesla driver whose door fell off while on a trip to Grandma's house, eh?

...In particular, Sacconaghi said he was disappointed in the “relatively poor” fit and finish of the interior of the Model 3 he drove. And while he said Tesla’s defense might be “credible, we can’t help noting that Tesla likely chose to share with us its highest quality/best assembled units, so issues on other cars may be even more pronounced.”...

Yah.  This, and the horrific lack of production, are due to Musk's ego; he is convinced that he knows better than ANYONE else about building cars.

If you haven't already done so, short the stock.  That will be your Christmas present to yourself.

Irony Drips From Max's Boot

One of the has-been Warmonger-GlobullWarmth Pubbies vomits forth.

...This episode [Moore] is the sorry culmination of two trends that have disfigured the conservative movement beyond all recognition: contempt for the facts and desire to win at all costs. Republicans are increasingly reliant on “alternative facts” manufactured by the likes of Fox News and Breitbart, which claim that global warming isn’t real and neither is the Russian hack of the Democratic National Committee....

Actually, "warming" IS real.  But Maxscene elides to lie.  He prefers to forget that actual Conservatives know that it is not "man-caused."  Nice try, Maxie.

Oh, and by the way, did the Russkies hack the DNC, or was that an inside job done by Seth, the murder victim?  You don't know shit about this, Maxscene.

He does make one valid point, however.

...This is a party that does not deserve to survive....

You ought to know.  You killed it.  That's what's called "irony."

Good Questions About "Morality in the Budget"

The Bishops of the US have declared that the US budget is a "moral" document.  Jeff Mirus doesn't quibble with that statement, but asks some very good questions about how the Bishops (and the Gummint) applies those "morals."

...Does government’s “caring for the poor” help the poor grow toward greater self-reliance, especially within their families and communities, or does it create and sustain a dependent class?...How does omnipresent government affect the general perception of the need for a citizenry that worships God and organizes itself into churches to do God’s will?...

...How does government today define the family, and what does it mean for government to “strengthen” the family?...Will the purpose of strengthening the family through tax policy be invariably undercut by other laws which destroy the proper understanding of the family, consistently and even convulsively weakening the social order?...

...Are the rewards of progressive tax rates worth the costs?...More broadly, are complex tax laws worth the cost of a specialized class of professionals to deal with them, not to mention the cost of a huge number of required government employees?...

....By “common good”, of course, is meant “government programs and services”. To what degree do government programs and services, especially at the Federal level, actually enhance the common good in ways commensurate with their costs (or in comparison with the ways in which the same programs diminish the common good)? How many vital, successful and irreplaceable services can be enumerated beyond necessary basics such as law enforcement, national defense, and disaster relief? Does our government (or the American voters as a group) even know what the common good is?...

... does excessive reliance on government actually undermine the common good? Is there something fundamentally wrong with a social order in which one in every six persons is a government employee?...

We're sure that every one of the US Bishops has seriously debated all those points with their top-level staffers and concluded--without question or doubt--that the current direction of Gummint is just fine.

Not.

Those questions have been pursued by the likes of J. Schall, S.J., Deneen (of Notre Dame), and Solzhenitsyn.  Which US Bishop has read any--or all--of the works of these people?  Hmmmmmm?

Local Boy Makes Bishop, Attacks Texas A.G.

The current Bishop of El Paso, TX. is a Wisconsin native, raised in western Waukesha County.  He doesn't like the attorney-general of Texas, and has called him a "hypocrite."

...That’s what Bishop Mark Seitz called Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton last summer when Paxton led a group of officials defending the Constitution. ...

That's on the incidental and political matter of "DREAM" Act.

On the other hand, Bp. Seitz seems to have his mouth taped shut on morally-grave matter:

...the bishop admitted that he had never publicly corrected, much less condemned, Catholic Cong. Beto O’Rourke, his 100 percent pro-abortion U.S. representative....

In distinct contrast, Paxton--the "hypocrite"--is drawing tighter the noose around abortuaries.

...Last week, Paxton went into federal court to defend SB 8, a Texas law prohibiting “dismemberment abortion.”...

On broader matters....

...virtually all our bishops receive federal taxpayer funding for their secular welfare agencies, and often publicly lavish praise on these same pro-abortion officials at ceremonies staged to celebrate the generosity of the government that gives them hundreds of millions a year, rather than the taxpayer from whom the money was taken.

Meanwhile, while praising the generous government, prelates continue to complain about the stingy people in the pews, as New York’s Timothy Cardinal Dolan did a year ago in a letter to all his pastors.
One wonders. Shouldn’t we tell them that we “gave at the office”?
...

It's likely that Bp. Seitz is all hunky-dory with that "stingy" plaint, too.  Next time he's on a home visit, someone should ask him a couple of pointed questions, eh?

"Radical" Article V? Really?

Charlie Sykes' new network, MSNBC, thinks the Wisconsin Legislature has gone nutso.

...According to the Wisconsin resolution, approved by Republicans, the convention is needed “for the limited purpose of requiring the federal government to operate under a balanced budget.”...

OK, so?

...Occasionally, progressive leaders will push for a convention as a way to circumvent Congress on campaign-finance reform, but most proponents are on the far-right fringe. The religious right movement, in particular, has pushed aggressively for a convention....

I see.  Christians are the far-right fringe.  OK.

...No one can say with certainty how such a convention would play out...but there’s a real possibility that once the constitutional door is open, convention delegates could consider literally any changes...

And so forth and so on.  The Fever Is Operative at MSNBC, Charlie Sykes' new network.

We are unable to put our finger on the Constitutional language which authorizes abortion-on-demand, homosex marriage, and tranny-rights--all accomplished without the benefit of any convention at all, just the perverted minds of 5 blackrobed jackasses.

But to MSNBC, all that crap is normal.  And that, my friends, is how you got Donald Trump.

USCCB Loves Them Some Climate Fraud!!

Picking on USCCB statements is too damn easy.

Now we find them screeching in support of the United Nations' most famous climate-fraud bunch, the IPCC.

Dear Paul Ryan, Jim Sensenbrenner, and Ron Johnson:  SCREW IPCC.  We have plenty of fraud, misrepresentations, and outright theft domestically.  No need to support it at the UN.

Get it?

Now back to the Bishops.  If the US budget is a "moral document" as the USCCB claims, then funding FRAUD from the earnings of US citizens should not be part of it.  You'd think the Bishops would know that, eh?

You would be wrong.

The New "Crisis": 9-1-1 Funding

At least two local TV outlets (12 and 58) ran "crisis" stories about 9-1-1 funding--one focusing on Milwaukee County, the other on Waukesha.

Summary:  the gummints want MORE MONEY!  Unstated:  they're stealing the money you gave them in the first damn place.

At least 58 had the courtesy to provide background on the funding "crisis."

...Every month when you pay your cell phone bill, you’re charged a 75-cent “Police and Fire Protection Fee”.

This money was initially designed to fund local emergency dispatch, but in 2009, faced with declining revenue, state legislators moved that money into the general fund. That money is dispersed through shared revenue, forcing city and county dispatch centers to rely primarily on local money to fund training, staff, and technology....

In other words, "Diamond Jim" Doyle and the Democrats stole the money back in 2009.  But they sorta-kinda gave it back through "shared revenue."  Then the various County Gummints diverted the money to other things, like salaries and benefits, or shiny objects in the road.  And they're still not putting it where they are supposed to put it.

As usual, "More Money" is not going to fix this.  Prioritizing the money will.

And as usual, a little revolution can be a good thing.  Toast your local-Gummint County-twit.

Schools Gone Wild: Merton's "Sex Ed"

Apparently the Merton junior-high sex-ed teacher is a lunatic--and so is the "language arts" teacher.

School officials apologized to parents of eighth-graders at Merton Intermediate School who were upset upon learning of a music video that was shown to students in a language arts class that had not been approved in advance.

The eighth-grade language arts staff showed students a music video of Christina Aguilera's song "Beautiful." ...

The video contained "images of homosexuality and gender/sexual identity struggles." Parents had not been notified ahead of time to preview or opt their child out of the activity, which is part of the school's Human Growth and Development curriculum.

So the 8th graders are supposed to "language arts" their way through "gender identity struggles," eh?

Methinks that there should be no struggle in FIRING two loony-teachers for gross misconduct with intent to pornographize children.

Kirstjen Nielsen Likes Job Security. A LOT of It.

Apparently The Donald nominated an open-borders nutbag for Homeland Security Secretary.

Makes sense to her:  the more MS-13 and Muslim invaders, the more Homeland Security has to do, the more tax money she gets to spend,.....

JOB SECURITY!!

Other than that, this is a complete and utter fail.

"Bitter Cold?" Grow a Pair, Snookums

One of the local weather jocks apparently grew up in Hawaii or Miami.

He describes wind-chill temps of 5-10 degrees ABOVE zero as "bitterly cold."

How will he describe the conditions when the NON "wind-chill" temps are -20 degrees with a 5 MPH breeze from the west--like damn near any night during January?

By the way, that "wind chill" stuff is a pile of foofoodust.  You'll have a cold face if you don't know how to dress, or are stupid enough to set your face into the wind during winter.

Sheesh.

"Climate Report": More of the Same, Piled Higher and Deeper

One expects that the vested interests (Al Gore, Elon Musk, et al.) in "climate change" would create and put out "reports" that the world is ending through overheating, underheating, or none-of-the-above heating.

After all, it's easy money, and paying off the "reporters" only takes chump change.  So yah, another one came out and--as is the pattern--it's full of shit.

Global temps, measured by satellites, are about what they were in 1998.  Measured by methods and means of the 1950's (favored by the bullshit artists), they are going up.

Hockey-stick models project HUGE rise in global temp over next 20 years.  Real-life observation-based models--not so much.

Have US temps increased lately?  Yup.  To right around where they were in the 1930's, before the drop into the 1960's.  Meh.

There's a lot more at the link.

How bad is this "report"?

So bad that even an Obozo functionary says it's just bullshit.

Maybe Gore and Musk will have to find a new racketeering model, eh?  Let's hope so.

Wisconsin: Another Article V State!!

Went through the State Senate yesterday!

Republican lawmakers finished their drive Tuesday to make Wisconsin the latest state to call for a convention of states to add a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution, driving a resolution demanding the meeting through the Senate despite Democrats' warnings that they could destroy the document.

The Assembly adopted the resolution in June. The Senate's approval solidified the resolution as the state's official position. Resolutions don't need the governor's signature, but Republican Gov. Scott Walker tweeted Tuesday that he supports the call for a convention....

Paul Ryan won't actively oppose it until another 2-3 States get on the bandwagon--but then he'll be a screaming banshee from Hell opposing it.

Maybe he'll pick up some of his lines from these esteemed nose-pickers:

...Sen. Fred Risser said the convention might craft amendments outlawing abortion. Sen. Jon Erpenbach said delegates might outlaw the media and strip rights from women and minorities....

Can't find a downside in Risser's "fear."  Can't find a downside in 'outlawing the media', either.  If the media doesn't bother with the truth, may as well not have them around.

USCCB: Wasting More Oxygen

To no one's surprise, the USCCB has "solutions" to murderers of the nutbag, gang-banger, or Moslem persuasion.  Let's read their thoughts!

...our leaders must engage in a real debate about needed measures to save lives and make our communities safer.  The USCCB continues to urge a total ban on assault weapons, which we supported when the ban passed in 1994 and when Congress failed to renew it in 2004.
In addition, the bishops have supported:
  • Measures that control the sale and use of firearms, such as universal background checks for all gun purchases;
  • Limitations on civilian access to high-capacity weapons and ammunition magazines;
  • A federal law to criminalize gun trafficking;
  • Improved access to mental health care for those who may be prone to violence;
  • Regulations and limitations on the purchasing of handguns; and
  • Measures that make guns safer, such as locks that prevent children and anyone other than the owner from using the gun without permission and supervision.
While acknowledging the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and related jurisprudence, we live in a fallen world with daily advances in modern technology. Some weapons are increasingly capable of easily causing mass murder when used with an evil purpose. Society must recognize that the common good requires reasonable steps to limit access to such firearms by those who would intend to use them in that way.”...

A comprehensive fisking of this gaggle of inanities would take waaaayyyyy too long.  So I've red-highlighted a few for quick hits.

"assault weapons...."  Please define "assault weapon."  Do not include appearance items as part of the definition.  Do not exclude commonly-used hunting rifles through your definition.

"...all gun purchases...."  Since "all" may include father-to-son or neighbor-to-neighbor, or friend-to-friend transactions, defend that particular genre of transaction.

"....high-capacity weapons and ...magazines"  Leaving aside the asinine formulation 'high-capacity weapon,' define 'high-capacity magazine.'  Given that defending a home invasion by several criminals will require more than 10 rounds, defend your position.

"...regulations and limitations on the purchase of handguns..."  What do you suggest?  Handgun purchases (through dealers) are already heavily regulated.  What is the meaning of your term "limitations?"  Limits by person?  By caliber of weapon?  Months of the year?

"...locks....anyone other than the owner..."  When fail-safe 'locking' devices are available, right?  You'd hate to see a woman fumbling with a lock while her children are being killed, right?

"....Second Amendment and related jurisprudence....."  Nice of you to reference that.  Please distinguish the Second Amendment from the God-given right (and duty) of self-defense.   Make your distinctions clear and comprehensible.  Reconcile your position with that of St Thomas Aquinas.

When you've finished, Excellencies, hand in your paper.  We'll get back to you.

Government: One Incompetent Boob After Another

So this Texas nut-case atheist murderer obtained weapons and several hundred rounds.

Because the U S Air Force failed to notify the Feebs of his conviction for domestic abuse.

AND because the nuthouse to which he was involuntarily committed ALSO failed to notify the Feebs about that little matter.  The nuthouse was a state-run facility.

Two Gummint agencies.  Two massive fuckups.

Twenty-six dead.

Electric Car Tax Credit Goes *POOF*! GOOD!!!!

About damn time!

This is a scam--but it's one that favors high-income/high-tax people.  It should go away.

...the auto industry may need new friends after the unveiling of the new tax code proposal.
Though the new code does cut the taxation rate for corporations, it also eliminates the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicles: a credit that automakers have been relying on to make the vehicles more palatable to every day consumers....

"More palatable" means "the consumers liked the bribe, but not the car."

Here's reality:

...EVs currently make up less than 1% of total sales in the U.S. and that’s in significant measure due to the incentives. Xavier Mosquet, senior partner at the Boston Consulting Group, said that if the incentive disappears so will sales of vehicles like the Tesla Model 3, Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf....

Basically, EV's are very fancy golf-carts.  Range is improving, but "about 300 miles" is a very long trip indeed if there's no charging station nearby.  Hybrids, which are half-and-half, will get you the range you want, but are not too comfortable.  And they really don't sell well, either.

...The move would actually put U.S. automakers including Tesla, as well as General Motors, Ford and Fiat Chrysler, at a competitive disadvantage with foreign makers whose home markets continue to offer such incentives. ...

Faddle fiddle.  The incentives have nothing to do with "home markets"; that's some BS the reporter regurgitated.

...even with reduced imports, our energy and economic security is threatened by our dependence on a single transportation fuel: oil. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the U.S. spent roughly $123 billion dollars on imported oil in 2016, the group noted....

When the price/benefit ratio favors electric cars, that's what will sell.

Taking Baby-Killing Off State Benefits Roster

Well, well.

By a 61-35 vote last Thursday, the Wisconsin Assembly passed legislation to prohibit elective abortion coverage in Wisconsin’s public health insurance plans. The legislation now heads to the Wisconsin Senate. If Assembly Bill 128 becomes law, Wisconsin taxpayers would no longer pay for state employees’ abortions....

This should get through the Senate with little trouble.  Note, please, I use the word "should".

Sheriff Severson: KEEP the 287(g) Program!

Perhaps Ms. Neuman-Ortiz wants to keep criminal illegals in Wisconsin.  If that's the case, drop them off at her home on the East Side of Milwaukee.

The rest of us (including damn near every immigrant) would prefer that you deport the criminals without further ado.  Put them on a plane, give them a parachute, and shove 'em out the door at the right place.

Atheist Nutjob Shoots Up a Church

It is NOT true that the atheist nutjob in Texas was a representative of, or lawyer for, the Freedom From Religion bunch in Madison, WI.

It IS true that he owned the weapon illegally, as he was convicted of domestic abuse.

The Bush Family: Sad and Divisive

The Bush family did not vote for Trump.

Sad and divisive, aren't they?

Old Ass-Grabber Calls The Donald a Blowhard

Bush 41, ahhhh, what memories!  Tip O'Neill ate him for lunch on taxes, Bill Clinton had him for dinner on the campaign trail--and to make up for it, he grabs the butts of nearby women.

Then he calls Trump a "blowhard," which is not entirely without foundation.

But voting for Hillary?

He deserves to have Barbara for life.

Diplomatic Kiss-Ass, or Stuck on Stupid, Gen. Kelly?

The Donald is going to spend some time in ChiCom-land, asking for a few favors.  North Korea comes to mind, of course.

So Gen. Kelly, his chief-of-staff, opens his pie-hole and makes a remark that in any other circumstance would be regarded as one of the most stupid, boneheaded, ignorant, and dumbass remarks in Western history.

The Chinese state publication Global Times praised White House Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly in an article dated Saturday for stating in an interview that the repressive communist system “has apparently worked for the Chinese people.”...

Oh.....you mean the Chinese people who have survived, right?  Not the umpty-million who were killed by Mao and his successors, or the other umpty-million killed off while pre-born.

He continues the high-level stuck-on-stupid:

...Kelly stated that China had “beat us pretty badly in terms of trade” but that this fact “doesn’t make them an enemy” and instead should encourage American industry to compete at a higher level. “My hats off to them for taking advantage of whatever they’ve been able to take advantage of to have that trade relationship.”...

Why not?  American industry should utilize Chinese techniques like slave labor, zero environmental or safety regs, zero labor-standards laws, zero taxation for benefit of retirees.....hell, yes!!  We don't need that steeeennnking Constitution and all that "middle class" crap!!

Dumbass, bonehead, ignorant, and stupid, Kelly.

Or maybe all of that and "diplomatic kiss-ass", too.

Lower Than Lowlife: Hillary! Attorney, Fraud, and Traitor

We already know that she's a traitor--even before Uranium-1 she had given away State secrets through her latrine-server.

And we know she's an attorney--one of the 99% that makes the 1% look good.

To top all that off, she was stealing from the Democrat National Committee.  All "legal" of course.  Bernie got burned, but the DNC ain't exactly the picture of health now, either.

This is a genuine schadenboner moment!

"Dialogue Within the Church". Really??

The President of the USCCB (see below post on the civil war in the Church) issues some sort of nastygram about "dialogue."

“The departure today of Fr. Thomas Weinandy, O.F.M., Cap., as a consultant to the Committee on Doctrine and the publication of his letter to Pope Francis gives us an opportunity to reflect on the nature of dialogue within the Church.  Throughout the history of the Church, ministers, theologians and the laity all have debated and have held personal opinions on a variety of theological and pastoral issues. In more recent times, these debates have made their way into the popular press. That is to be expected and is often good.  However, these reports are often expressed in terms of opposition, as political – conservative vs. liberal, left vs. right, pre-Vatican II vs Vatican II.  These distinctions are not always very helpful."

First off, Fr. Weinandy was FIRED.  The truth is part of any useful dialogue, Your Eminence.

Secondly, Your Eminence, the Truth is "in opposition" to UN-truth, and also "in opposition" to not-exactly-truth.  Our current Pope has an affinity--a Jesuitical affinity--for the latter.  So don't give us the virtue-signal foofoodust.

We do understand that a Bishop is the absolute ruler of his Diocese vis-a-vis the Faith.

But we have ZERO illusions about a "conference of Bishops."  That's because a "conference of Bishops" has ZERO authority, as you well know.

We are only surprised that you did not spit forth the "DIVISSSSSSSSSSSIVE" word....yet.  We are NOT surprised that the USCCB still employs a woman who is an open and noisy supporter of the World's Largest Baby-Killing Organization, Planned Parenthood.

Stick that in your "dialogue," and smoke it, Your Eminence.

Gorsuch's EEEEEEVIL Reliance on "The Constitution"

Of course Totenberg thinks Gorsuch is stupid and tone-deaf.  He thinks that the Constitution has value and remains the fundamental law of the land.  (In contrast, Kennedy thinks that Unicorn Farts and Sparkles are normative.)

HT:  Grim

The Highly-Placed US Intel Liars

It appears that The Swamp not only needs draining.  It may require some executions, too.  Those usually get the attention of the remaining slugs, liars, and quasi-patriots.

...I'd like to put John Brennan and James Clapper under oath and ask them what they knew and when they knew it, and if they ever downplayed this intelligence they were sitting on when shilling for Obama's Iran Deal.

Oh, and then there's this: Another lie told by Obama and Clapper and Brennan is that the Muslim Brotherhood isn't a terrorist organization.

But Osama bin Ladin said he was "committed with" the Muslim Brotherhood, which in context seems to mean "committed in jihad."...

All that following the release of OBL's papers, in which he made it clear that Iran and the Muslim Brotherhood were VERY much ALLIES of his and AlQuaeda.

Nice, eh??

Civil War in the Church, Part XXXII: the USCCB and Milwaukee

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops has been filled with odd creatures since it was formed by Cdl. Bernardin of Chicago.

("Chicago" alone should tell you something; is it just 'co-incidence' that Saul Alinsky, Bernardin, and Obama all resided there at roughly the same time and were directly or indirectly working on the same causes??  Hmmmmm????  If you think so, read "Windswept House" by Fr. Malachi Martin.)

Anyhow.  Over the years, Catholics-who-pay-attention have been writing about the USCCB's Catholic Campaign for Human Development, which has spent Catholic dollars on various Marxist-socialist organizations such as Gamaliel, CUSH, and SOPHIA.  I need not remind you that Marxist-socialists are enemies of the Church, not to mention the US.

But it gets worse.  Much, much, worse.

When ObamaCare became law, Milwaukee saw the creation of "Common Ground" healthcare company, a "community developer" of healthcare, and an ObamaCare insurance provider.  That bunch, Common Ground, was full to the brim with the Usual Suspects from SEIU, another Alinskyite organization which was closely connected to the fraud-filled (now defunct) ACORN.

At the same time, USCCB had a subcommittee on 'healthcare and work', a member of which was an SEIU officer and open lesbian.  USCCB approved a $40,000.00 grant to Common Ground of Milwaukee in 2011.

So happens that Common Ground "health"care is a partner of Planned Parenthood, the world's largest baby-killing organization.  (At the link, the name is "Trilogy Common Ground.")  Think that's co-incidence?  Think again.

In this morning's news, we find that USCCB has an employee who is an open supporter of Planned Parenthood, the world's largest baby-killing organization.

And Milwaukee's Archbishop has once again--AGAIN--given a pass to USCCB's granting another $40,000.00 to Common Ground, a partner in "health"care to the world's largest baby-killing organization.

The Archbishop has no excuse for this.  He was told in 2012.  The matter is an open record (although PP has dropped the term "partnership" in describing its affiliation with Common Ground.)   Further, USCCB has no excuse for retaining Jessica Garrels.  None.  It is--arguably--fraud for the USCCB to take money from Catholics and payroll it to an abortion supporter.  It is--arguably--fraud for USCCB to take money from Catholics and grant it to a "health"care company which is a partner with the world's largest baby-killing organization.

What the current Papacy has done is made the civil war in the Church very clear and prominent.  Perhaps Abp. Listecki will pay enough attention to the conflict to de-fund the obvious external enemies of the Church.  That would be nice, ain'a??  We can worry about the internal enemies, at USCCB and in Rome, next.

Uppity White Congressman Calls Black Woman "Ignorant"

The gentleman jackass from Tennessee demands respect even though he has no idea what he's talking about.

About time Star Parker--or anyone else--slaps him around.  We've seen plenty enough of Congress-slime to know which ones deserve 'respect.'

Nice to note that Gohmert gets it, too!!

Schumer: Stuck on Stupid

So Schumer, a New York loudmouth, is determined to keep "diversity" immigration going after one of the "diverse" ones went on a killing spree in New York.

We can conclude two things:

1)  New York voters are suicidal; and
2)  Schumer is stuck on stupid.

Not even John McPain has stepped up to defend this program.  Yet.

One Last Note on Luther & Co.

We've been rather direct about the terrible consequences of the Lutheran Revolution, but that doesn't mean that we don't like our Lut'ran pals.  Jell-O salad can be good eatin', ya know.

Anyhow, here's another perspective on unity that is worth knowing:

...Christians both Protestant and Catholic are finding out, more and more, that what they have in common is more important than what divides them. The impetus for focusing on what is common arises largely from a rather unpleasant set of sources: the persecution of all Christians by radical secularism and by radical Islam.

Catholics and Protestants have been the object of persecution by radical secularist political regimes for the last hundred years, beginning with the rise of the atheistic communism with the Russian Revolution of 1917. More Christians were martyred in the twentieth century, than all other centuries combined. The turn into the twenty-first century has brought a new wave a persecution, with 100,000 Christians martyred every year, largely at the hands of radical Islam, and an ever more aggressive secular attack on Christian morality and faith. The good that God is bringing out of this evil is that Christians are uniting against these common enemies, and thereby bringing, slowly but surely, the Reformation to an end....

Oremus! Ut unam sint!!

All Saints!!

I know that this will not be sung at the Mass I'm going to attend.

But it should be heard!!  HT to NLM, here's Vittoria's O Quam Gloriosum.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feAT-Kxw5rc

If you pay attention to the last 60 seconds, you'll hear the word-painting of 'following the Lamb' with the voices seeming to run downhill...

Good stuff!

Is Obama Still in the White House??

The Paul Ryan/Mitch McYertle excuse for jacking the national debt to $20TRILLION and counting was that Obozo was in the White House and they just couldn't do what real men do.

Now they propose to INCREASE THE DEBT FURTHER.

Is Obozo still in the White House?

No.  Ryan and McYertle are still not real men.

AssPress Valiantly Avoids "Jihad" in NYC Attack Story

Go ahead, read the story.  You won't find the word "jihad", nor "Muslim", nor "Allahu Akhbar" in the first several grafs--as far as I got before laughing out loud at the AssPress.
