Really Cool Weather Radar


Bayou thinks this stuff will materialize on TV weather reports in the near future: phased-array radar scans of storms.

The real-cool part is the speed of the scan. Phased-array radar is a bit too expensive for the TV stations though.

As for the 3-D display, I believe Channel 4 already has that capability with their VIPIR system. Of course, since it uses a mechanically-steered radar, it isn't very useful for real-time storm monitoring.
