This is my parish. They wouldn't know the Pange Lingua if it came and bit them in the butt. Liturgical practice is, shall we say, interesting. It might actually include holly.
At Saint Dominic, I think "holly" is more applicable than "Holy."
Fortunately, this sign is so far off the road that no one reads it anyway. I'm surprised the pastor hasn't rented space on it as a money-making scheme; he does that with the sanctuary lamp. Bulletin says, for example, that "this week's sanctuary lamp is burning in memory of Joe Schmoe." And here I'd thought for all this time that it was burning to remind me of Who was there and why it was holy. The American flag on the outdoor flagpole gets rented out, too. No pew rentals, though. Yet.
Please tell me where the perfect world that you live in is located. I am so tired of living in a world where people make mistakes. And worse than that, people in my world actually understand and forgive mistakes.
Pretty sure you wouldn't have this attitude as you were being wheeled into the operating room. Matter of fact, I bet you wouldn't even assume it when dealing with your plumber. Something goes wrong, and your patronizing "forgiveness" will likely find its fullest expression in a lawsuit.
On the other hand, you're clearly morally superior to the rest of us (as are the people in "your world")—you told us as much. Meanwhile, the rest of us expect certain levels of competency. A competency, I might add, that seems to conspicuous in its absence as regards orthopraxis in many Catholic parishes over the last couple generations. That was the trajectory of the comments offered above, not the simple, amusing matter of the sign, which was just a reminder of it.
