Tactics and Strategy, Obama-Style

You noticed that last week a few stories in the MSM focused on Obama's 'aloofness' from 'politicking' with Congress.

Here's why they came out:

Heading into the new year, President Obama will insist that Congress renew the payroll tax cut through the end of 2012, but will otherwise limit his dealings with an unpopular Congress, and instead travel the country to deliver his reelection message directly to voters, a White House aide said.

"In terms of the president's relationship with Congress in 2012 — the state of the debate, if you will — the president is no longer tied to Washington, D.C.," spokesman Josh Earnest said in a news briefing in Honolulu.

The strategy is interesting.  The tactics are, again, using the MSM as a steno-pool.

Steno pool hell, they are willing participants

using the MSM as a steno-pool.

I'm guessing that literally NONE of the republican candidates for president or congress has a pipeline to the MSM [snark, for the snark impaired].

Only the President and his "henchman" are covered? No Republican debates covered? No campaigns for the Republican nomination covered? No convention coverage? Fox "News" off the air? No Wall Street Journal op-eds?

Jim, you must have missed the JournOList from 2008. You know, where the media planned the narrative and message in advance? Like I said, willing participants...

The JournOList was anything but MSM. It was a private online community consisting of about 400 left-leaning members. While leaked emails showed that there were discussion threads about how to deal with Jeremiah Write, for instance, there is no evidence whatsoever that the community was a unified group with a specific agenda. This could hardly be described as "The Media".

I guess you are thinking that nothing like this exists on the right-leaning side, huh? Ever read some of the emails from Fox "News" executives on how to portray certain people and events?

Not even close on the right. The GOP establishment shuns those that could help. Idiots.

But, that's right, there wasn't any MSM coordination at all, it was only led by WaPo's Ezra Klein, and none of those 400 were at other prominent establishments... Joe Klein, Marc Ambinder, Nate Silver, Matthew Holt, etc.. Oh, and they had NO contact with the Obama campaign or Administration right? Oh wait, Peter Orszag - head of the OMB was a member.

Just a coincidence I'm sure.

But even if one imagines (it will take a VERY good imagination) that JournoList people were not transcribing Obama/Democrat talking points......

The fact remains that they are certifiable Lefties, all buzzing the same buzz, by mutual consent. One may yap all day long about Fox News, but that's ONE network. And Bill O'Reilly is not a Conservative, nor is Shep Smith.

For that matter, neither is Rove.

Yeah, I know. Bill O'Reilly is NOT a conservative. He's a "traditionalist". What a joke!

Shep Smith IS a conservative. He just doesn't foam at the mouth like Hannity.

I suppose the New York Times, Washington Post and others didn't suck up to the Bush Administration and talk up the dangers of Sadam and yellow cake and aluminum tubes in the run up to the Iraq war. Judith Miller anyone?

Karl Rove isn't a conservative? OK, well I think there is a case to be made that he is a purely amoral political operative who decided he workes best with and for conservatives.
