We all know that the Middle Ages were ......ahhh........Dark, right.
Wrong.
We all know that the Renaissance was The Greatest Thing That Ever Happened (because that dad-ratted Church was no longer dominant), right?
Wrong again.

Kind of along this same subject.
One of the things that I've found remarkable is that living standards of the average person, regardless of nationality, ethnicity or whatever, showed no remarkable improvement until the dawn of the British Industrial Revolution.
IOW, whether you lived 200 years ago or 2000 years ago, you were most likely destined to poverty, malnurishment and would most likely end up dieing of starvation and/or disease.
The explosion of productivity over the last 150 years is the only remarkable time period in human history that has been able to lift a significant portion of our population out of poverty and famine.
That's a good list.
Nice!
