The Silly Season captures Congresscritters.
Representative Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.) has introduced legislation to “restore the prohibition on large capacity ammunition feeding devices in the United States.” She intones, “Though it will remain impossible to estimate, I believe that the increased difficulty in obtaining these devices will reduce their use and ultimately save lives.”
The legislation is dangerous because the principle she uses also allows some Congresscritter (along with a majority of both Houses and a cooperative President) to legislate that 'more than 100 HP in your car is un-necessary,' or that 'more than 1 home is too many,' or that 'more than a 60 watt light-source is wasteful.' It certainly worked well with toilet-limits, right? And forcing you to buy poison lightbulbs for your home, right?
Silly, useless, and un-helpful.
Come to think of it, that seems to be the motto of some in Congress.
