Wow.
Sullivan was among hundreds scrambling to buy a weapon Thursday at the gun store Cheaper Than Dirt! — which sold $101,000 in merchandise the day after the election, shattering its single-day sales record, said store owner DeWayne Irwin.
Stories were similar across Texas...At Houston's Memorial Shooting Center, gun sales are up 70 percent and "the whole wall of assault rifles is gone," said manager Richard Poulis
I don't believe that the new regime will attempt to "ban" guns--although it's possible that there will be some feinting and dodging about 'assault' weapons (whatever they are...)
More likely that the new regime will tax the living crap out of ammo and reloading components (such as bullets and gunpowder.) Prices on ammo are bad enough, what with a war and all; increasing the taxes will definitely put a crimp into purchases.
.....which reminds me....must get to Fletcher's must get to Fletcher's must get to Fletcher's.....
UPDATE: Same in Colorado:
At Aurora's Firing Line gun shop, Steve Wickham was also purchasing. "Anything I can get my hands on," he said as he cradled a $699 9mm handgun.
Same thing in Lakewood: "I was selling guns before I even opened the door," said George Horne, owner of The Gun Room. "It's gone completely mad. Everyone is buying everything I've got on the shelves. Sales have been crazy."By midday Wednesday, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's "Insta- Check" background check — required for the sale of a firearm and typically about 8 minutes long — was jammed with waits lasting more than two hours

What kind of idiot gun store manager refers to his semi-autos as "assault rifles"? Ever?

Dad, he doesn't need to ban them. All he needs is a crisis serious enough to allow Marshal Law to be declared. Bingo! Problem solved.
