In a move which speaks volumes about his attitude towards the law, Governor Doyle (D-Highest Bidder) is now attempting to purchase Wisconsin voters. Turnabout is fair play, eh?
Gov. Jim Doyle on Tuesday ordered state regulators to not enforce the minimum markup law for ethanol blends of gasoline, an increasingly popular fuel required in southeast Wisconsin to fight pollution.
...He said the law artificially raises the cost of ethanol-blended fuels compared with petroleum-only fuel.
Although the governor can't unilaterally kill the minimum markup law, he can "set the priorities" of regulators who act on complaints about violations of the law, said Doyle spokesman Dan Leistikow.
Right, Dan-O.
Face it folks. Doyle knows he's in deep trouble; the numbers have not been good. So what's a silly little law? We can ignore it!
The OTHER lesson: STUPID REPUBLICANS handed this one to Jimbo:
The Legislature this year debated but failed to pass a measure that would have repealed the minimum markup law for all fuels - a bill the governor said he would have signed into law.
What if Tommy Thompson had instructed LEO's not to enforce the concealed-carry ban?

How is ethanol cheaper than gas by more than $1 per gallon? Sounds to me like Doyle landed a big one here.
I'm not sure that eth IS cheaper than refined gasoline. Look at the Chicago Board of Trade indexes for real prices.
However, eth DOES get substantial tax favoritism, which may account for at least part of the difference.
