Jimmy Hoffa Calls for War

Nah, no thugs here.

"We got to keep an eye on the battle that we face: The war on workers. And you see it everywhere, it is the Tea Party. And you know, there is only one way to beat and win that war. The one thing about working people is we like a good fight. And you know what? They've got a war, they got a war with us and there's only going to be one winner. It's going to be the workers of Michigan, and America. We're going to win that war," Jimmy Hoffa Jr. said to a heavily union crowd.

"President Obama, this is your army. We are ready to march. Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong," Hoffa added.

The New Tone of Civility!

That's fine. We'll leave him where(ever) his old man was.

Dad29--So tell me how is your tone and rhetoric any different??? Ah, I forgot, your side is always "right" on everything!

One more time, Allyson Miller, Tea-Party activist from Tuscon...

She stated emphatically, however, that this incident [the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords] will not mean her group will tone down their rhetoric: "I think anytime you start suppressing freedom of speech, I think it's wrong. I live here and I didn't hear anything [in the 2010 campaign] that concerned me in terms of inciting violence."

Miller doesn't seem to have a problem with the "tone". Fantastic. So I'm sure she would have no problems with such phrases, whether coming from a LEFTY or RIGHTY, to ""Remember to close your fist before striking", "Warm up those batons and water cannons!", and "5 minutes to disperse. Live ammo."

[Comments from Weaselzippers]

Be careful what you wish for, because some will go off the deep end and put into motion those words. And some Tea Partiers are just itching for a fight as well. Again, doesn't make it right, but that is how *&&% up is our society.

OMFG - you cannot still be preaching that commonly-used political metaphors like "targeting" a congressional district had anything at all with an undiagnosed schizophrenic/stalker shooting the Congresswoman.

But I reckon as long as you think that can justify true violent dog whistles like this and the Union hack in NJ that said that you need to get a little bloody.....

We note that Anony carefully did NOT provide examples of TEA Party rhetoric from Arizona.

Hoffa can (and will) say anything he wants to say. You'll note that I did NOT call for his speech to be suppressed.

I just observed that it might not fit within the "new civil tone" called for by the usual suspects.

I know. It's hard for you to read for comprehension.

THIS IS WHERE THE WAR STARTS!

Let me state that Hoffa, Jr., is a media hog, just as equally annoying as a certain conservative darling.

Neomom--YOU are the one assuming that I believe that violent-laden rhetoric directly led the nut-job to the Congresswoman. Whether those statements contribute to an atmosphere that promotes violence being acted out, not just voiced, are a contributing factor to his actions is a matter of debate.

Dad290--"We note that Anony carefully did NOT provide examples of TEA Party rhetoric from Arizona."

Supposedly you are an educated man. Look it up.

"You'll note that I did NOT call for his speech to be suppressed."

Absolutely. Because you are fan of militant speech..just uttered by those whom you support.

"I just observed that it might not fit within the "new civil tone" called for by the usual suspects."

Which includes those on the right who are equally skilled at spewing vitriol but choose to defend their own words and behavior as being completely justified. Nice (failed) attempt at deflection.

Hey, Dad29, see anony's 3:16 p.m. cowardly message. I wonder who lives at that address...a fellow conservative activist?

See, now, if someone goes to that residence, and something happens there, it's not your fault, right? You weren't contributing to anything, correct?

I wonder what a priest would say to anony 3:16 p.m...or a mental health professional.

neomom said...

If you don't believe it, why did you bring it up? The kid was mentally ill and you want to "potentially" believe that he was looking at Sarah Palin's website while he is stalking the fine Congresswoman for a couple of years... Sure.Right.Whatever.

Hoffa however, really IS trying to incite real violence.

You are obviously a progressive. No discernment and chock-full of moral relativism.

"Let's take these son of bitches out and give America back to an America where we belong."

This is only a partial quote. The full quote [left out part in bold]:

Everybody here's got to vote. If we go back and keep the eye on the prize, let's take these son of a bitches out and give America back to America where we belong! Thank you very much!

Hoffa is talking about voting people out. How is that different from McConnell or Bachmann saying their top priority is making sure Obama is a one-term president?

Anonymous said...

I'll see your sons-of-bitches, and raise voting out the motherfuckers.

Your move, Jimmy.

Hey...I only quote what's available. I don't read Hoffa's speeches.

I thought 97th/Beloit was a strip club.

Neomom--"If you don't believe it, why did you bring it up?"

YOU made the inference. I responded to correct you.
Read for meaning.

Neomom--"...you want to "potentially" believe that he was looking at Sarah Palin's website."

Where did I make that point in my post??? Again, YOUR inference, not mine. I thought Alinsky tactic #204 (keeping your opponent on the defensive) was only used by libruls!

Neomom--"You are obviously a progressive. No discernment and chock-full of moral relativism."

Amazing skill you have of labeling someone just on their statements on a blog. Sorry to disappoint, but I'm a proud moderate. And while the moderate voice is drowned out of politics at present, the middle-of-the-road voters still control the keys to the White House in 2012.

Neomom--"Hoffa however, really IS trying to incite real violence."

Ok, using your own logic, you would be deathly concerned about the motivations of this protestor.

"Warning, if Brown can't stop it a Browning can." (March 20, 2010). Brown, referring to Senator Scott Brown from Massachusetts and in reference to a protest against "Obamacare".

Oh please. The real middle class of this country is it's veterans, it's gun owners, it's outdoorsmen.

I dare Baby Jim to take us on. That would be like cub scout pack 12 challanging the United States Marine Corps.

(the pronunciation is cor, not corpse for you Oabamaites).

Before you complain about rhetoric, Mr. "Buy More Ammo," you might want to explain why you're leaving death threats up on your blog.

Did we hit the lottery today? Biden called us barbarians too?

Anonymous said...

Quoting Althouse, neomom?

Why not answer my question, please? So, what is the difference between the rhetoric of Hoffa and the rhetoric of the man in the photograph (the link I provided)?

Anonymous said...

"The real middle class of this country is it's veterans, it's gun owners, it's outdoorsmen."

How elitist and "ruling class", David!

Why is it the blog comments degenerate when Capper or Foust show up?

David

Anonymous said...

Capper falsely claims it was a death threat. It's not. It's referring to his method of suicide when he and his thug brethren are relegated to the ash heap of society.

And if the allegations were false, Capper, why were you suspended for 10 days? That was in the Journal-Sentinel, so you cannot deny this fact.

Eat on, fatass. Eat on.

neomom said...

Annoying, splitting hairs on semantics Anony is really Foust? That explains a lot.

"Why is it the blog comments degenerate when Capper or Foust show up?"

David, ask the deranged anony who makes idle threats in lieu of carrying on an intelligent conversation.

And sorry to burst your bubble, Dad29 and neomom, but I'm not Foust. Totally different styles of writing. But if you want to make the assumption I am him because it makes you feel better, go ahead.

I will give you both a thumbs up for employing the Alinsky tactic of deflection, rule 4569, but a frowny face for not being able to successfully pull it off.

Neomom--"split[ting] hairs on semantics"--What are you talking about? And if "annoying" means challenging your logic with facts and evidence, so be it! It's called debate.

So, again, I'll ask the question--what is the difference between the rhetoric of Hoffa and the rhetoric of the man in the photograph (the link I provided)?

Enlighten us, neomom!

I'll take a shot at.

Let's see....guy in photo, some protestor in some crowd in some rally.

Hoffa, head of the largest private sector union, introducing the president of the United States of America, directly addressing his Union thugs.

Your right!!!! Wow, how did I not see the equivalence. Now I can see how China and the Bahamas should be considered equals as well. Oh and the Pewaukee U-8 team is easily the equal of the Brewers.

It is hard to believe you ranted on about this for three posts. You might have considered none of us bothered cutting and pasting your stupid little link. I am sorry I did now.

David

capper said...

Nope, it's a death threat. The second to be exact. The first one was all about a "hollowpoint with my name on it." The police found that one remarkable.

But to even accept the trolls version, it's still wishing for my death, and not very civil at all.

But then again, anony the troll is an sociopath that gets his jollies by impersonating people, threatening disabled children, and generally making an a$$ out of himself.

Why anyone is still putting up with you is beyond me. But maybe that says something about the host...

Anonymous said...

David--So are you saying the difference in the rhetoric between Hoffa and the protestor is that Hoffa is in a position of power? That his words carry more weight and is more likely to influence the crowd compared to the "common man"?

IF that is what you are implying, it’s a ridiculous assertion. (Violent) rhetoric is (violent) rhetoric, regardiess of the person's status. BOTH Hoffa speaking and the guy displaying the poster can EQUALLY influence a nutjob to take matters into their own hands by heeding their advice, whether it be to “use a Browning” or “go to war”.

Focus on the behavior, not the group engaging in the behavior. That’s what ADULTS do.
Incivility is a HUMAN trait. To insist that one group is more uncivil than another group, or that one group is “above the fray” compared to another group, shows ignorance. Why? Because each group is biased. Liberals and conservatives exhibit uncivil behavior...period!

It is an exercise in futility (or stupidity, take your pick) as to designate which groups, based on degree or severity, is more or less likely to be uncilvil.

Alinsky Tactic #732--Employ equivalencies without any explanation in an attempt to bolster one’s argument.

China and the Bahamas? Pewaukee U-8 and the Brewers? So how does this make your point stronger??? What is your context???
