No problem.

Just assemble several hundred actual Americans.

I hope this starts spreading. Good for these young people.

Have a GREAT week.

"Actual Americans". HA!

Sorry, but flag burning is protected free speech, regardless of how you or I feel about it.

Marshall and Scalia, in the famous Texas vs. Johnson case (1989), your conservative Supreme Court idols, were in the majority. Apparently, these two justices are FAKE Americans, using your criteria. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Yes, but the First Amendment protects only "good speech."

For "actual Americans."

"Good speech", Morrisey? Seriously, that's your argument.

George Hay, Virginian member of the House Of Delegates, in 1799 stated, "Freedom of speech means the power uncontrolled by law, of speaking either truth or falsehood at the discretion of each individual...A man may say everything which is passion can suggest; he may employ all his time and talents, if he is wicked enough to do so, in speaking against government matters, but he is sheltered...The power of controlling opinions has never yet been claimed, and no criteria has been established under law to make such a determination."

And two of the most conservative membersof the Supreme Court--literalists, mind you--within the past 60 years agree.

From the report I heard, the kid who was going to burn the flag decided not to. He went there to speak his piece, and was shouted down. Isn't that what some lefties do? Two wrongs and all that. I then heard one of the organizers of the counter protest on FOX say that the majority was right to shout down the kid and prevent him from speaking. That goes against what the 1st Amendment intended. It was intended so that the minority or contrary opinion and thought would be heard. Sadly, the counter protesters either don't understand this, or worse, don't believe in it. Burning the flag is, in my opinion, despicable. That said, if we start disallowing one form of speech, where does it end? Do we not become what we've railed against the left of?

So protesting is un-American, then?

Brother James said...

There's protesting, then there's the habitual tantrums of socio-economic malingering that seems to be popular among the "socially-conscious" and "intellectual".

Most of the Leftist protesters' opposition are quietly working at their jobs, paying taxes, and raising their families. You know, doing grown-up things.

No offense dad, I agree with Jim. Your post title is a little vague. It should have read: "How to Stop an Unshaven, Unwashed Douchebag Who Thinks It's Cool to Burn the American Flag."

Bravo Roland, Well Said!

Flag burning is constitutional, regardless of how you feel about it! In fact, conservative icons Scalia and Marshall, as originalists, voted with the majority in Texas v. Johnson (1990).

Justice Anthony Kennedy...
"For we are presented with a clear and simple statute to be judged against a pure command of the Constitution. The outcome can be laid at no door but ours. The hard fact is that sometimes we must make decisions we do not like. We make them because they are right, right in the sense that the law and the Constitution, as we see them, compel the result. And so great is our commitment to the process that, except in the rare case, we do not pause to express distaste for the result, perhaps for fear of undermining a valued principle that dictates the decision. This is one of those rare cases. *** Though symbols often are what we ourselves make of them, the flag is constant in expressing beliefs Americans share, beliefs in law and peace and that freedom which sustains the human spirit. The case here today forces recognition of the costs to which those beliefs commit us. It is poignant but fundamental that the flag protects those who hold it in contempt."

Well said, indeed!

Don't forget that if the protesters were conservative, these attackers would be "thugs".

I just went to John Fausts blog " boots and Kittens" and looked at the last 17 postings. Observations.

Nobody is making any comments. Not a single one.

I bet the only way he gets hits on his blog is by posting on other blogs as there was absolutely nothing of interest. Only the mindless rattling of an empty lefty mind. No wonder he frequents Dad29's website so frequently.

Jim said...

And that is supposed to prove what? That John's last comment here wasn't absolutely, positively spot on?

Dad29 said...

Nah.

It proves that nobody but Foust is interested in what Foust says.

Of course burning the flag is Constitutional. The maggot-infested plastic-banana good-time-rock-n-roll hippie should have burned it.

He has rights!

What? He peed his pants and got his matches wet?

Jim said...

The point of the post appeared to be NOT about the protester, but about those who "countered" the protest.

So call the protester a hippie if it makes you feel good or superior. (I'm sure you do not know the meaning of the term.) Doesn't matter. Foust is absolutely correct that if it had been a Tea Party protester being hassled, those doing the hassling would have been considered thugs by you.

Anony, B&K is a parody. It is static HTML. There is no way to comment. This is intentional.

If I were to ever parody Dad29, I would certainly use the phrase "plastic banana" quite often. Can anyone tell me what he means?

Anony 11:14 a.m., it must make yourself feel good about yourself to make those comments.

Anony 10:23 a.m., I certainly do not hope that you go to church and tell everyone how you follow the good book to a T. Because God knows you would be lying with your generalizations and accusations. It is unbecoming of a Christian, and going down this path can only lead to self-destruction and the loss of your soul.

I'm a devil worshiping Jew, so your chiding of me is unimportant.

So go fuck yourself, Church Lady.

Thank you

Your mockery of religion is an affront to everything Dad29 supposedly stands for. Yet, I wonder why he provides you a forum for your foul language and psychotic behavior? Birds of feather flock together?

Just thinking that people like you exist gives me the willies!

Your welcome.
