It also may simply eliminate the cops, or their cars. It is VERY expensive.
The Department of Administration report estimates that adding the Badger Traffic and Criminal Software program to 400 law enforcement agencies that do not have it could cost $10 million alone.
The report says another 200 agencies that use the software already might not have it in all their squad cars, and so the total cost is unknown. Each squad car will cost between $5,000 and $8,000.
The state's costs are expected to be about $2 million in the first three years, which will be covered by an increased fee.
An "increased fee."Interesting way to phrase it.
Another way to phrase it: "The costs will be covered by an increase in traffic stops, resulting in more tickets, for which fines will be greater."
