Southridge a "Dead Mall"?

Interesting...

This map/chart tells us that Southridge may be a "dead mall."

The main story makes a few points, one of which is that enclosed malls are .....not so hot, and that if the mall isn't turning $284.00/square foot, it's simply not viable.

Evidently Southridge is not hitting the nut.

Wow, I really would expect The Shoppes of Grand Avenue to be on the list. Just in the last six months, they have lost two major tenants - Old Navy and Linens n Things - with speculation that Boston Store has one foot out the door.

I walk through the Grand to get a sandwich at the food court (the only area of the mall that's ever busy) and my shopping selection is as follows:

Hats/Sportswear
Cologne
Watches
Shoes
Watches
Cellular Phones
Jewelry

Not a big selection. The rest of the shops are sadly abandoned. I think the best solution would be to throw millions of tax dollars at the building. Let's see what that does.

Watches should actually be on the list at least three more times but you get the point.
