Ticker follows this stuff.
...Rather-remarkably the household survey, unadjusted, was +289k which is within spitting distance. That almost-never happens, and that number is the one I pay attention to.
One cautionary note: The "NILF" [Not in Labor Force] number increased, on an unadjusted basis, by 680,000. These are people who left the workforce and trending up means either (1) giving up, (2) not caring or (3) disabled yet still of working age. Doesn't matter which, this figure stands up some four million compared to prior to the pandemic and has been very sticky since April of 2020....
The red-highlighted text is a big concern. 4 MILLION gone since pandemic?
Of the 289,000 increase in payrolls, watch for "part-time" or "second job." That will tell a very important tale.
