Dumb Questions, Dumb Answers

OMG CRISIS WISCONSIN MILITIA EXTREEEEEEMISTS OMG CRISIS

Sometimes you just sit back and laugh.  The local rag sent someone to Cambria WI following up on a 'kidnap' story.  Why Cambria?  Because a resident there allowed the kidnappers to 'train' on his property.  That local is a member of the Oath Keepers.

First, there's the "reliable" bunch at SPLC:

"The Oath Keepers is a group of current and former law enforcement officers and military veterans. The Southern Poverty Law Center describes it as an extremist anti-government group. Oath Keepers say they remain committed to oaths they took to "defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic."
Remember that SPLC defined the Family Research Council as "extremist", too.  So yah, that's a great source of information, right?

Moving on, here's the real screamer:

...Village President Glen Williams said the news reports of the kidnap plot arrests was the first he heard of the group coming to his community for training. He said there are no tactical training facilities in the village or the surrounding rural areas that he knew of.

“If they were firing guns, that would have been reported by neighbors," Williams said. "If there was a place where people were firing automatic weapons, that would have gotten reported immediately.”...

IOW, the reporter thought that this bunch of morons had full-autos, so he checked with Williams.  One wonders if the "reporter" ever inquired about the prevalence of full-auto weapons in civilian hands in this country.  (Hintnot many, friends.)
