IFR Shows WuFlu is........Not Bad

Well, well, well.

The W.H.O. tries to bury the real lede.

An estimated 750 million, or 10 per cent of the world’s population, have been infected by Covid-19, World Health Organisation (WHO) official Dr Mike Ryan has said.

The Irish-born executive director of the WHO’s health emergencies programme said he was worried for the fate of the 90 per cent of people who have not had the disease....

Dr Ryan predicted the world is in “for a hell of a ride for the next eight or nine months” as it awaits a vaccine, but he cautioned that a vaccine will “not be a silver bullet, but an additional tool that should be added to a comprehensive strategy to fight this disease”....

Well, yes.  That's a lot of people!  But then there's the number that is NOT mentioned:

Which, at 1 million death, would put the death rate at 1 in 750 (even with overcounting, etc) - or 0.13%. That’s the lowest estimate I’ve ever seen. Say it with me: IT’S THE FLU.

Whoopsie!

That's the Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) in red above--the broadest measure of how deadly any disease really is.  The IFR includes ALL people who have had the disease (usually a calculated estimate), as the denominator.  In contrast the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) includes only those people who are confirmed as positives.

The Scary Headlines in Wisconsin are "confirmed" positives--so we see the CFR every night.  But the IFR's death rate makes this thing comparable to a seasonal flu.

That's why the number is carefully buried, friends.
