The Progressives, Summed

P-Mac notes that the editor of The Progressive is alarmed.

“Inauguration Day dawned dark and cold . . . and our born-again Christian governor announced at his prayer breakfast that the Creator, not government, gives us our freedoms.” --R Coniff

Horrors!

That happens to be a perfect summation of the Progressive philosophy. Both Plato and Aristotle (not to mention Augustine and Plotinus) would beg to differ, but never mind.

"Once abolish the God, and the government becomes the God." --G K Chesterton

The Progressives would abolish the God, of course. That's one of the reasons that in the early 20th Century, the Catholic Bishops in Wisconsin were revolted by the Progressive movement, at that time connected to the Republican Party and UW-Madison.

The question worth asking: How did the Democrat Party get hornswoggled by this bunch and take them in from the cold?

Hmmm, I'd like to learn more about that.

I laughed out loud reading that.

Good.
