I happen to disagree with those who think that "winning" in Afghanistan is required for the salvation of Western Civilization. Steyn may be over-estimating Afghanistan by calling it a '....moribund feudal backwater;' he could have left out "feudal" and been more accurate as to the governance structure.

But it's still a damn funny line.
