Waukesha County Board

The number of County Board members in Waukesha County will shortly be reduced by 10, which will be almost 33%.

The monetary savings are almost irrelevant in comparison to the entire County budget. But in terms of efficiency, the reduced-size Board should be much better off.

Three different proposals were on the table, sort of: the Exec's 25 or 19, and the Taxpayer League's 11. The Board, evidently able to see the mene, mene, tekel upharsin on the wall of the Courthouse, elected to reduce itself to 25.

But not before several Members of the Board made complete jackasses out of themselves (and the residents of the County who had elected them for years, and years, and years, and....

Kolb is an embarassment, pure and simple. So is Seitz. But these guys are second-rank bozos compared to the TinFoilHat crowd which thinks it's all a Commie Nazi plot to merge Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties.

I've lived in Waukesha County for over 40 years. In ALL that time, the County Board has been largely irrelevant; and judging from the words and thoughts (?) expressed by some Board members, that irrelevance has been a VERY good thing.

Is 25 the right number? Maybe. Is 11 the right number? Maybe. Personally, I prefer 19, but it's not likely that Vrakas will veto 25 to get 19. He's a bit too palsy-walsy with the Political Class.

Wonder if Dan Vrakas thinks it's all a plot to make him subservient to Lee Holloway...
