Chertoff: Is He Serious?

Chertoff, the DHS Secretary, said yesterday that the "catch-and-release" policy, whereby non-Mexican illegal immigrants (read: terrorists and spies) are usually simply let go IN THIS COUNTRY after a hearing--

You know, THAT policy---

Will be history in less than a full year; and that DHS's plan is to expel EVERY non-Mexican illegal on capture.

This little matter of terrorist/spy infiltration has been in the news for quite some time, and hardly restricted to WorldNetDaily. Did Chertoff just wake up from a long nap? Did ChurchLadyMiers' chilly reception spur GWB to start making deals and promises?

And, by the way, do you REALLY think Cherthoff's "promise" will come true?

As WorldNetDaily reported in May, the president of a labor organization representing Border Patrol employees and a Texas congressman criticized a Homeland Security bill passed by the House for failing to fund construction of new detention facilities to hold illegal border-crossers from countries other than Mexico, resulting in their automatic release pending a later hearing date.
