If you are a Catholic in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, you MAY have heard about the "Synod on Synodality."
We say "MAY" because of the 533,000+ registered Catholics in that Archdiocese, only 1,842 took part in the discussions here.
That's THREE+ tenths of one percent of the registered Catholics.
But the 533K number includes children, so let's estimate the participation rate for Catholics above the age of 18. In Wisconsin, that's 78% or so.
So we subtract 22% from 533,000 and we have 415,740; let's make it 416,000.
1,842 divided by 416,000?
FOUR+ tenths of one percent.
Not exactly a barn-burner in turnout, is it?
There's a reason for that!
Great enthusiasm was expressed in and through the process, along with significant cynicism from participants that their voices would be heard.
If you read through the report, you can almost name the names of people who spoke by reading the session summaries. It's clear that the WackoLefties did not dominate the events--thank God!
