Headline Half-Truths, Fox6 Edition

Since damn near nobody reads the actual surveys cited in 'dah nooz,' we did.  You can thank me later.

Fox6, whose news operation is dominated by Ted Perry the Lefty (but reasonably fair if challenged), ran a story about a "guns" poll out of the U of Chicago and AssPress.  Since AssPress was involved, you know it's a sketchy survey.

Anyhow.  Fox6 headlines it "Most in US Want Stricter Gun Laws, AP-NORC Finds"

Want a headline which is truthful and better describes the results?

"Gun Violence Up in Major Cities.  Blacks, Women Hardest Hit."

That puts the tail on the..........heh........donkey.  But there is NO WAY IN HELL that Fox6 would run that headline, is there?  Doesn't fit The Narrative.

Here's another finding which is buried deep in the story:

...60% also say it’s very important to ensure that people can own guns for personal protection....

Oh.

We should also mention that asking a question like "How important is it ...to prevent mass shootings?" is just south of inane.  The question should ask "How can the US prevent mass shootings?" with four-five options.  Later on, we discover that 'being mentally ill' should disqualify someone from owning a gun.  NO DOUBT about that, but what--precisely--is "mentally ill"?  AssPress doesn't care to define that.  It would demolish their preferred outcome.  A question that should have been asked:  "Do you trust Congress to define 'mental illness' THAT would have been fun, eh?

Finally, AssPress managed to find that 85% of Americans think someone should be punished BEFORE they commit a crime with this little honey:

Allowing courts to temporarily prevent people who are considered a danger to themselves or others, but have not been convicted of a crime, from owning a gun

They didn't even have the guts to ask whether that non-criminal should have legal representation in that (kangaroo) courtroom.  You and I both know exactly why, too.

As a wise RadioMouth has often stated:  "Any survey, properly constructed, will give you the answers you want."

Obviously.
