Big-ass presser held by all sorts of bureaucrats and 'activists' in Milwaukee.
They want more crime 'prevention.' When you read the quotes given in the Journal-Sentinel Daily Pravda's account, there's one very important noun missing.
PRISON.
...The event featured 10 speakers from the city’s Office of Violence Prevention, the county’s Department of Health and Human Services, the Medical College of Wisconsin and residents of the Sherman Park neighborhood, which has suffered some of the worst of Milwaukee’s historic levels of gun violence this year....
...Criminologists, police officials and others have attributed [rise in violent crime] to the vast disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, which interrupted all facets of life, including employment, education and social service outreach....
Uh-huh.
...Speakers Wednesday said Milwaukee needs to heavily invest in violence prevention efforts....
That means out-State taxpayers have to send MO' MONEY!!
...Derrick Rodgers, the program director for 414Life, said his team is turning more attention to accessing schools and building relationships with at-risk youth. He said there are too many disadvantaged people in the city battling feelings of abandonment, neglect, powerlessness and a sense of invisibility....
Maybe if Milwaukee's "schools" actually taught academic disciplines their students would succeed instead of having "feelings."
Milwaukee needs to get rid of John Chisholm and find a real prosecutor. Every cop in the 'hood can name the problem 'children,' and list their offenses. The (otherwise useless) US Attorney can start filing Federal gun charges and shipping perps to Leavenworth.
But that won't happen. Chisholm won't be replaced as he's too busy prosecuting doctors for imagined crimes, and the US Attorney is too busy finding domestic violence moms in suburbia. Useless bastards, both of them.
Barrett and all his bureaucrats know it--and they don't give a rotten damn about those children. The last Mayor of Milwaukee that actually gave a flying damn about crime was Henry Maier--who backed Harold Brier to the hilt.
It's been a long, long, time.
