Red Flags Surround "Red Flag"

Let's brush aside the Really Stupid People who yap about confiscating semi-auto weapons.  They cannot be bothered with the principal reason for the Second Amendment which was NOT 'self-defense,' although that's a great benefit.

...Implicit in the debate between the Federalists and Anti-Federalists were two shared assumptions: first, that the proposed new constitution gave the federal government almost total legal authority over the army and the militia; and second, that the federal government should not have any authority at all to disarm the citizenry....

The principal reason was to balance the power of the States against a tyrannical FedGov.  So the West Coast screamer is wrong on this matter.

That said.....

...Laws are only good enough to appease the masses until the moment they don’t work as intended.  [Easy example:  DUI laws.]  Once this happens, calls will be made to expand the laws, and since their backers on the right painted themselves into a corner by passing the red flag laws to begin with, they’ll be forced to reconsider....

...When red flag gun laws fail once, they’ll be a failure hung around the necks of every Republican who proposed them....
But that's not the most compelling argument against "red flag."  THE most compelling one?

...Progressive judges will pop ERPOs like candy. They’ll be presented with a Tweet opposing illegal immigrants and use it as grounds to grant an ERPO against the gun owner who Tweeted it.

If you don’t believe the progressives in our broken court system will abuse this power, you haven’t been paying close enough attention to the progressives in our broken court system. They will definitely abuse this power. Once word gets out that Judge Lefty Johnson is “sympathetic” to ERPO requests, he’ll get flooded with petitions that will get rubber stamped. There isn’t even really a question about whether or not this will happen. The only question is how many power-drunk judges will take advantage of it....
Remember Screechin'Shirley Abrahamson?  How about ANY Fedjudge in the 9th District?

The proposed Fed legislation, silly as it is, is really meant to throw the hot potato to the several States.  We all know that Lindsey Graham is not a serious Constitutional thinker, and that Trump--for all his virtues--is still a Noo Yawk boy with Noo Yawk impulses.

So it's up to Robin and Fitz here.  Tell them to stand strong.
