Bishop Demeans His Office With Silly "Statement"

The USCC has a committee on 'domestic justice and human development.'  That committee is chaired by +Dewane of Florida.

Thus, when someone possessed by Satan shot up a festival in California, the Bishop offered this:

...Bishop Frank Dewane of Venice in Florida, chair of the US bishops’ committee on domestic justice and human development, said July 30 that “our legislators must make changes to our gun policy to prevent the loss of life.”

“As Americans, we must be honest with ourselves that we have a sickness, almost a plague, with the problem of gun violence. As Christians, we must look to the cross, repentant of the ways that have led us to this point and, with God’s grace, abandon such senseless, inhuman acts. Let us resolve to make the sacrifices necessary to end the violent killing that saturates our nation.”...
It's obvious that the Bishop feels very good about Preaching To the Choir.  He also demeans his office by making statements as silly as this one.  Yes, that's the word:  silly.  No "gun policy" will 'prevent the loss of life', and ....uummmhhhh.....which actual, practicing, Christians commit such 'senseless, inhuman acts'?  Like I said:  SILLY.

As the Mad Mom suggests,  a "domestic justice" committee chairman should issue a presser a day on problems which actually have to do with "domestic justice" and/or "human development."

Like this:

As Americans, we must be honest with ourselves that we have a sickness, almost a plague, with the issue of abortion.

Or this:

As Americans, we must be honest with ourselves that we have a sickness, almost a plague, with the issue of "Catholic" politicians who support abortion-on-demand with votes FOR funding it.  We also have a plague of Weak Bishops who refuse to order implementation of Canon 915.

Or this:

As Americans, we must be honest with ourselves that we have a sickness, almost a plague, with the issue of sodomites attacking young boys.

Or this:

As Americans, we must be honest with ourselves that we have a sickness, almost a plague, with the issue of clericalism, especially in the ranks of Bishops and Cardinals.

Or this:

As Americans, we must be honest with ourselves that we have a sickness, almost a plague, with the issue of priests and Bishops who defraud parishes or the Faithful by using offerings for purposes not intended, such as $40 million residences.

There's a start, Excellency.

As Americans, we must be honest: people are killed in car accidents every day. Therefore, we must ban all automobiles.

No-the gun control logic is not to ban all cars. Here is how the control logic goes to stop all injuries and deaths from DUIs: take all cars away from all sober licensed drivers [and, as a corollary-give the power people total control of the lives of all citizens who are not members of the power elites, to include invalidation of the entire Bill OF Rights and the subsequent emandments].
