"The system worked" will become a meme-du-sarcasm in the next 3 days, tops.
That could make a nifty campaign theme: sumperimpose that quote over video of luxury cars being destroyed in the cash for clunkers, over headlines 'Bailout for GM' followed by 'GM declares bankruptcy', etc.
Yeah - the campaign ads for 2010 are pretty much writing themselves at this point.
That is as long as the GOP will be smart enough to use them.
