Muslims Asking for Real Trouble. GWB, Phone Home

The "religion of peace" is scoring big-time points here:

A HARDLINE cleric linked to Somalia’s powerful Islamist movement has called for Muslims to “hunt down” and kill Pope Benedict XVI for his controversial comments about Islam.

Sheikh Abubukar Hassan Malin urged Muslims to find the pontiff and punish him for insulting the Prophet Mohammed and Allah in a speech that he said was as offensive as author Salman Rushdie’s novel The Satanic Verses.

“We urge you Muslims wherever you are to hunt down the Pope for his barbaric statements as you have pursued Salman Rushdie, the enemy of Allah who offended our religion,” he said in Friday evening prayers.

“Whoever offends our Prophet Mohammed should be killed on the spot by the nearest Muslim,” Malin, a prominent cleric in the Somali capital, told worshippers at a mosque in southern Mogadishu.

“We call on all Islamic Communities across the world to take revenge on the baseless critic called the pope,” he said.

And here:

Saudi Arabia’s highest religious authority, Grand Mufti Abdul-Aziz al-Sheik, said in remarks published Saturday that the pope’s comments on Islam were “all lies.”

“These are all lies. The prophet (Muhammad), peace be upon him, came as a mercy to the world,” the daily al-Riyadh newspaper quoted al-Sheik as saying.

He said the pontiff’s remarks showed reconciliation between religions was impossible.

“Everybody should know by now that all claims about religions’ reconciliation have just been proven to be lies in reality,” al-Sheik said. “How can they think of reconciliation while insulting Islam and the prophet?”

Hope you mullahs remember a couple of names: Jan Sobieski and Lepanto. Except this time you may not get as far as Vienna, nor the Aegean.

Meantime, the silence from Foggy Bottom and the White House has been deafening.

Yeah. Because Rushdie has only been alive now for what...about 20 years after the fatwa was issued? During that time, he's made at least one appearance in a film ("Bridget Jones' Diary") and his wife now hosts a TV show ("Top Chef").

The war of Islam against the Christian West is already over and Islam has won. In 40 years or so all the major European countries will have Islamic majorities and from there it will all be downhill for them to consolidate control of the entire world. There is no longer any Christian nation to oppose them, the US being the last country where Christian principles still have some limited effect on policy, and we will never see the conflict in religious terms (tolerance, you know - a euphimism for despair: nothing matters, nothing is important)

Can you imagine if Jews and Christians responded to Muslim characterization of their religions the way Muslims react to every imagined slight of the Prophet Moihammed?

Islamic leaders are acting like leaders of a cult, deifying their founder - something Islam, in reality, would consider Idolotry.

rjp, no need to be so dour. As Andrew Jackson said, "One Man With Courage Makes a Majority."

Don't forget how after centuries of Muslim domination, the Spanish took their country back!

Fidei Defensor - I am pretty dour, I guess. I'm just not looking forward to my grandkids and great grandkids growing up in an Islamic world (as for me, I'll be long dead).

You sound like another Catholic blogger, rjp.

But I still have faith that we can defeat this. Just because Europe seems to be a lost cause doesn't mean it is, or that NO one is willing or able to fight back anymore.

And, quite frankly, I think the loss of a few European countries to Islamic rule might just wake up the rest of the civilized world to this problem and turn the discussion from "tolerance" to fighting.

Well, Christendom, after 600 years of squabbling and infighting, is in little shape to defend itself. Some denominations are still waving the white flags they used to surrender to sexual vice, so it is no effort to keep them out to placate the Moslems.
This is a fight that we cannot win, only Christ can win it. We need to fast, and pray, and proclaim the Gospel of the Risen Son of God, and do it in the face of the Devil and his furious religion.
Christians can beat their chests and growl about another Crusade, but Islam will not be overcome by the sword. Only the Cross can prevail.
