We have a friend who is absolutely convinced that "there is no alternative" to electric cars (and trucks.)

An electric car at a charging station has a short circuit. It took just over 1 minute to destroy 3 cars. The fire cannot be extinguished with water. No fire department will approach a burning battery-powered car because of the toxic gasses produced. No salvage yard will take them...
Separately, GM's Bolt has a problem with spontaneous combustion in its batteries, so if you own one and drive it (!??!) you are told to park at least 50 feet from any other cars or trucks.
Social distance, ya'know.
Da Fyootcherrrr also includes electrified roadways with charging 'pickups' by electric cars. So if there's a short-circuit, the entire Interstate can be shut down for hours.
