Fauci Making Perfect the Enemy of the Good?

Dr. Fauci, who likes him a lot of camera-time, is pulling back the reins on chloroquine, which had been described as an effective treatment of CoVID-19.  Apparently using the drug will be "off-label" which is a Big No-No in the FDA/CDC bureaucracy.

Besides, Fauci et.al. are working on prevention, not cures.  Right??  So let's prevent, no matter the cost to those who have the disease, right??

Wrong.
...the questions the media should ask Dr. Fauci include these: Do these drugs threaten serious side effects? Is there any way they can make it harder for coronavirus patients to recover? What advice does Fauci have for doctors who want at least to try to use them off-label? And if the patient appears near death and nothing else works, wouldn’t it be immoral not to try them?...
Mind you, the Examiner is a NeverTrump bunch (Kristol's S-I-L is the honcho there) but on this matter, they prefer Trump's approach:  if it can't hurt, then GO FOR IT!

Fauci needs some good, abrasive, questions now and then before he begins to think he's calling all the shots here.  He's not.
