Yah, it's come to this. The Usual-Suspect Atheists are threatening a lawsuit over the choice of music in a high-school 'sacred music' concert. The concert had been held in a Catholic church--which will change to a college auditorium next year--but those EEEeeeeeevil Muuuuuusic selections....oh, my!
...Americans United Staff Attorney Ian Smith said in April that he was
encouraged by the board's decision to move the concert, but would await
judgment regarding what music would be performed.
The December
letter pointed to songs such as "Do You Hear What I Hear?" and "O Holy
Night" as being inappropriate, in addition to the venue itself.
Americans United Associate Legal Director Alex Luchenitser seconded Smith's stance Monday.
"We're
pleased that the location of the concert has been changed. We just have
to wait and see with respect to the content of the concert,"
Luchenitser said. "We're going to just keep watching and keep monitoring
it."....
These cockroaches would probably burst into flames at a rendition of Mahler's Second. Wouldn't pour water on them if it happened....
Apropos to this news item is an excerpt from one of Fred's columns (HT ColdFury):
...Democracy works better the smaller the group practicing it. In a town,
people can actually understand the questions of the day. They know what
matters to them. Do we build a new school, or expand the existing one?
Do we want our children to recite the pledge of allegiance, or don’t we?
Reenact the Battle of Antietam? Sing Christmas carols in the town
square? We can decide these things. Leave us alone....
Then came The Feds. You know what's happened since.
