Despite my reservations, this guy could be a godsend.
[Daniels has] already called for a "truce" on social issues and floated the idea of a VAT, and now he's told the Hill that defense cuts should be on the table to combat the debt. “We need to take a really hard look at the missions we've undertaken,” he said.
I don't like VAT. I think dumping 'social issues' is inconsistent with Conservatism.
But I do agree that Permanent War is precisely the opposite of 'the health of the State.'
Here's what's refreshing about this guy:
...maybe he's decided that if he runs, he's just going to say what he thinks.
That, alone, makes him a very interesting person.
