Getting Nuked on Black Friday

You like electricity?

We hear from a well-placed source that the Obama administration will use the holiday Friday news blackout to announce that it is definitively pulling the plug on the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste repository.

The move has been in the cards since the ’08 election, and an internal memo leaked from DOE [Department of Energy] on November 7 has already drawn Congressional ire by indicating the Administration would not only withdraw the Yucca Mountain license application from the NRC [Nuclear Regulatory Commission] earlier than anticipated but also terminate all work on maintaining Yucca Mountain as a policy option.

Good. That allows the possibility of using the Capitol as our nuclear dump.

Nuke waste........Members of Congress.........

Perfect match.

This is how the Administration can claim to be in favor of nuclear power and still not make it happen.

Pitchforks and torches.

Yes. Let's emulate Europe in every idiotic way, but not in something they've gotten right - nuclear power.

I'm surprised this announcement is just coming out. The nuke industry knew about this months ago.

It really isn't Obama. He kinda of waffled when on the campiagn trail. This is Harry Reid's idea and Obama is throwing a bone to Reid.
Reid has killed so many jobs in Nevada that he won't be around much longer.

Oh, I don't know...

Yes, Reid has been opposed to Yucca since Day One.

On the other hand, it fits neatly into Obama's agenda.

AND--bonus time--the WackoLefties will like this. It'll partly make up for Gitmo and Afghan'stn.

This will be just like Gitmo. Obama wil announce its demise and have no viable alternative for another solution.
