The O Made a Mistake

Whoops! One miss...

President Obama has made some interesting political appointments: Joseph Biden, a pro-abortion Catholic, to be Vice-President; Leon Panetta, a pro-abortion Catholic, to run the C.I.A.; Tom Daschle, a pro-abortion Catholic, to run the Department of Health & Human Services; Janet Napolitano, a pro abortion Catholic, to run the Department of Homeland Security; Ken Salazar, a pro-abortion Catholic, to run the Department of the Interior; Tom Vilsack, a pro-abortion Catholic, to run the Department of Agriculture; Hilda Solis, a pro-abortion Catholic, to run the Department of Labor; Tim Kane, a pro-abortion Catholic, to head the Democratic National Committee; and Ray LaHood, a pro-life Maronite Catholic (how did that happen?) to run the Department of Transportation.

It's not over: Sibelius of KS. (a pro-abort Catholic who has been told to stay away from Communion by her Bishop) will be the HHS nominee.

Any of them will be able to answer the question: "What profiteth a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?"

The platform of the Democratic party is pro-choice. What exactly are you confused about?

Did you read the WHOLE post, Scott? Or doesn't your feeble mind have the attention span that requires?

DCS, I'm more and more convinced that Scott is a middle-school student.

I'm confused. It seems he appointed a bunch of people that believe in sky wizards and quasi-canniballistic rituals. How could anyone believe only one of them is a mistake?

Dad29 said...

One of them believes in sky wizards but is not quasi-cannibalistic.

I've been saying all along: Obama will prove to be far more centrist than anyone would like.

What's with all the personal insults coming out of nowhere around here? Is that the level of discourse I can expect here every time I make a comment? If so, I may have to rethink my approach. What say you, Dad? This is okay?

And how can anyone take such childish prattle seriously? Grow up and then come back and have a discussion like an adult.

Obama will prove to be far more centrist than anyone would like.

Define "centrist" because it always seems to mean "only slightly to the right of Stalin", and always for evils like abortion.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. And you base that on what?

Amy,
If you believe in sky wizards, you probably shouldn't call anyone else childish.

dad29,
I thought all Catholics were into eating jesusflesh. Which one isn't?

Some altered dialogue from The Princess Bride:

JIJALWM:...you’re no match for my brains.

Dad29: You’re that smart?
JIJALWM: Let me put it this way: have you ever heard of Aquinas? Chesterton? C. S. Lewis?
Dad29: Yes.
JIJALWM: Morons.

Perhaps JIJALWM ought to read and engage aforementioned authors before accusing believers of childishness, or else change his moniker to Vizzini, which would be much more honest

A rational belief in a Supreme Being (God) is not childish. What's childish is 1) claiming to not believe in God and 2) hysterically refusing to say the word "God"..."sky wizards" is pretty, well, immature. It certainly doesn't earn you bonus points in the "I'm an Adult" department.

I thought all Catholics were into eating jesusflesh. Which one isn't?

Further proof you're no more mature than a moody 13-year-old. Perhaps actually understanding that of which you speak would help. Wonder if the persecutors of early Christians invented a time machine, because you sound no different than the Church's critics from 2,000-plus years ago. Kinda deflates that whole "I'm much more intelligent and modern" argument.

First, there's no such thing as a rational belief in a supreme being. Words have meanings. You should learn them before you try to use them

Second, I think I understand a bit more about Catholocism than you do. It's basically defined by the quasi-canniballistic ritual I mentioned. One of their 7 sacraments is called the eucharist. It involves eating crackers and drinking wine. Catholics actually believe that the cracker turns into Jesus's flesh and blood through the magical powers of "the holy spirit" or some nonsense like that. How is this not a quasi-canniballistic ritual that involves eating jesusflesh?

Knock it off, JJ.

Again, you ever actually read the Summa Theologica? Aquinas puts down some decent reasoning there. Maybe you might have problems with where it goes, but it's rational and reasoned. Or is some hack from the 13th Century not worth your time?

Words have meanings. You should learn them before you try to use them.

I know that. I'm fully aware of what terms like "sky wizard" and "jesusflesh" are meant to convey. I also know the meaning of "fundamentalist atheist", "disrespectful git", and "arrested adolescent".

Later, Vizzini, which I think I'll call you from now on. Get the meaning?

No. It's much more "rational" to think we all showed up by some random chaotic events. Much in the same way it's "rational" to think that cars are magically built by random acts of physics. And it's so much more rational to refer to God as "skywizard" and the Eucharist as "jesusflesh".

FWIW, the word "Eucharist" actually Greek for "gratitude."

Second, I think I understand a bit more about Catholocism than you do.

And you have just proven, without a doubt, that you are not to be taken seriously in any way, shape or form.

Come back when you've read Summa Theologica and the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and actually attend Mass on a regular basis and talk to people who know Catholicism without such contempt.

You know nothing about Catholicism. Those of us who practice it DO.
