Infrastructure Spending Already Massive...
Those are constant 2006 dollars. What you see is a CapEx increase from $60+Bn in 1956 to $140Bn in 2006--not bad at all, folks.
The more portentious one, of course, is the top chart, which shows Ops/Maintenance increasing by 400% in the same period.
Measuring the cost of the road or dam is irrelevant without factoring in the projected cost of maintenance and operation--which is why the City of Milwaukee cannot get ahead of its pothole problem.
