I wouldn't call Mr. Ahmadinejad's experience a speaking engagement, but a whiny american firing line. It was a classic bait and switch: An invitation to speak at the university was offered, but what happened was something more fitting to the Jerry Springer Show.

Mr. Ahmadinejad's values are reprehensible, but Academe could give the same treatment to Pope Benedict XVI, as he stands for much that liberals despise.

All in all, it was a poor precedent.
