An old pal and union President who worked there referred to Waukesha Engine as 'Da Merder Works"--a play on "Motor"....
Anyhow.
Waukesha manufacturer Innio is rolling out plans to invest $300 million to expand its facility and says it will add 500 jobs in the years to come.
The company says it wants to expand its footprint to help keep up with what it calls the "rapidly growing data center" business....
Innio purchased the old Waukesha Engine business. GE had purchased it from Dresser Industries and moved the HQ to Canada (!). For a while, there were not a lot of cars in their parking lot, but that appears to be changing.
Demand for large standby generators has also been very good to Generac, another Waukesha County-based manufacturer.
