"Cost of Tariffs"? WHAT "Cost of Tariffs"??

It appears that Cong. Steil (R-WI) will remain in his seat after the '26.  But that doesn't stop the Hard Left (Democrat Party) from lying about tariffs.  They filmed a Kenosha fireman crying about 'the cost of tariffs' hurting his 5-child fam.  See, he can hardly afford to feed the kids.

He's knocking down around $75K/year with a gold-plated benefit program, and his wife is an RN meaning she's knocking down another $85++K/year.  If they cannot afford food--compared to, say, someone trying to live on a mere $50K/year--we think that he ought to examine his other spending.  How many cars?  How old are they?  How many square feet in his home?  Jewelry?  Parochial school??  So Many Expenses!!

But we digress in addressing his full-of-s**t monologue about "cost of tariffs."  Why?

Simply put, there ARE no "costs of tariffs"--at least, that the 'poor, poor', fireman pays.

... I’m starting to feel especially sorry for all those who have claimed equally insistently that his tariffs are to blame for much of the damage.  For just about every time a new official report on the state of the economy comes out, these claims get rudely debunked – with the latest example being today’s release on the consumer inflation gauge most valued by the Federal Reserve.

According to the new data for September on the Price Indexes for Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) inflation, there’s been no notable uptick in this gauge’s headline measure of consumer price changes, for the core measure (even more highly valued by the Fed), or for the PCE category where tariffs’ impact is most likely to appear....

After running through a few sets of numbers which show very little inflation (about 2.8 year-over-year), we get here:

... The case for tariff-driven inflation weakens even further in the PCE category which is most import heavy and therefore where such price changes should show up most prominently:  durable goods.  Here are the monthly numbers from February through September:

February      0.4 percent

March          0.0 percent

April            0.5 percent

May             0.0 percent

June             0.5 percent

July            -0.1 percent

August       -0.1 percent

September -0.1 percent

In fact, what these numbers show is recent deflationthat is, prices actually falling in absolute terms since June....

So where's the fire?

In that fireman's head.

By the way, we are NOT making a case for Steil.  He--like his BFF Paul Ryan--has been MIA on red-meat MAGA issues, mostly because he needs a job and his district is razor's-edge balanced.

But you'd think that a fireman wouldn't lie, right?

Nah.  He's a Democrat, and lying is what Democrats do.
