Z-Man has been a pessimist for as long as I've read his stuff. 'S OK, I'm not a roomful of sunshine myself. Thus, I think he's right on this point:
...This is an election where one side will ultimately conclude that the system itself is no longer worth respecting or defending. The Biden camp is much closer to that point, maybe even resolved to it, but still pretending. The Trump side is not there yet, but inching closer. There is no result that can leave both sides satisfied that the system worked as intended. Like the period after the Great War, we are entering a crisis of legitimacy, which begins with the election results.
His column yesterday was about "legitimacy;" this is a follow-on.
No doubt about it: if Biden loses, the remaining 27 'mainstream' Democrats in the country will be squashed by the insurrectionists who call themselves 'democratic socialists' but who are--in fact--Totalitarians. And the Totalitarians will be continuing their BurnLootMurder campaign until they are put out of action by citizens. Wanna call those citizens "militia" or "vigilantes"? Go right ahead. Make my day.
