LaPierre: Another Story of D.C.

It's likely that Wayne LaPierre will soon depart the NRA.

[NRA] Chief Executive Wayne LaPierre billed the group’s ad agency $39,000 for one day of shopping at a Beverly Hills clothing boutique, $18,300 for a car and driver in Europe and had the agency cover $13,800 in rent for a summer intern, according to newly revealed NRA internal documents.

The documents, posted anonymously on the internet, provide new details of the clothing, travel and other expenses totaling more than $542,000 that Ackerman McQueen Inc. alleges Mr. LaPierre billed to it.

The travel expenses allegedly include more than $200,000 in “Air Transportation” costs during a one-month period in late 2012 and early 2013, in part related to a two-week trip over Christmas to the Bahamas by Mr. LaPierre.
What you see in the story above is a pissing match.  Andy North is the Big Kahuna at Ackerman McQueen and was the (ceremonial) President of NRA for a year, ending last month.  For whatever reason, North decided it was time to shove LaPierre out of the NRA, and he will succeed, we think.

No matter how the NRA Board spins it--and they're trying--this sort of spending pattern will not be supported by the membership.

But there's a larger story here:  LaPierre has become a Member in Good Standing of the Establishment in D.C.   He has effected compromises with the gun-grab bunch and has been rewarded with acceptance--while screeching about the eeeeeeeeeevils of those very same gun-grabbers.  Can't do both, Wayne.  Sorry.

IOW, he is one of the vipers in that nest called "Washington, D.C."  He's a dues-paid member of Mordor on the Potomac's In-Club, just like about 450 of the 545 congress-critters.

Dumping Wayne is merely another chapter in the Trump revolution.

There's another possibility, of course.  The NRA Board may choose to keep LaPierre.  In that case, the NRA will become another Bull Moose Party.
