The Governor thinks that conservatives are unhappy with "access" to State-owned land.
He's wrong.
The State of Wisconsin owns 4.5% of the land in the State--near 1.6 MILLION acres. (The Feds own another 5+%).
Taxpayers are spending about $60 million/year to buy land, pay interest on the debt, and pay down the debt. Conservatives cut that back to a mere $54 million/year.
Frankly, Governor, 1.6 MILLION acres of land is more than enough for hiking, fishing, skiing, and hunting.
And $50 million is still a lot of money. Try to live with it.
