At the rate the economy's going (and it ain't great), many Americans NEED to put food on the table.
Given the size of Big Bird, he'd feed several families for a week or so.

I've got some great recipes for roast fowl in black iron.
This is much ado about nothing. SS generates more than enough $$ through, gasp! marketing and sales to pay it's production costs twice over. Just another made up angst for the chicken little gov't funding lovers.
That's a great argument for eliminating archaic gummint subsidies for oil companies who do a fine job of marketing their relevance.
