It occurs to me that Hillyer's take here is right on target.
...watching his expression when he said it, it didn't look like somebody who had any sense of trying to offer an exaggerated bet to make a point; in other words, there was no humor or irony in it. It looked and sounded like a man for whom $10,000 is within the realm of readily disposable income.
Some Milwaukee radioguys are trying to make this all go away.
Leno won't. SNL won't. What's-his-face on CBS won't.
