Tort Reform!!!

The Good News Train continues to roll in Madison.

Rich Zipperer has introduced tort-reform legislation which would:

Require a court to consider a set of factors when determining whether to award attorney fees or whether the attorney fees in a case are reasonable.

Provide legal immunity Wisconsin courts for drug and medical device manufacturers and sellers on products that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

Set interest rates on judgments for certain civil action at an annual rate of 1 percent plus the prime rate as reported by the Federal Reserve Board.

Update Wisconsin’s tax regulations in order to create protection for taxpayers from arbitrary bureaucratic rulings that cost money and jobs.

The Trial Attorneys have already screamed bloody murder to the press, and there may be some bumping and jostling of the law as it goes through committees.

But it's about time that Wisconsin got off the "sucker list" for torts.
