That Retail Sales Report? Smoke and Mirrors

Ticker actually reads the numbers.

The entire gain was "seasonal adjustment." All of it. In other words, in actual dollars there was not only no increase there was a net decrease in sales of approximately five percent - not annualized either, month-over-month!

...but regulation uncertainty and the 35% corporate tax rate is what's holding back hiring.

Yah, well.

Demand is flat and that's key.

But the ObozoUncertainty (TM) is a heavy, wet blanket on top of the flattened demand.

We are still paying down debt, not buying stuff. Because those of us in consumerland with only 1 income because the spouse is unemployed aren't heavy on demand.
