Why Wisconsin Taxes Are High, Part 456,640

You find these little nuggets buried in newspaper stories...

...under state law, if a firefighter becomes disabled because of a heart or respiratory impairment or disease, it is presumed that the impairment or disease was caused by their employment, and therefore puts taxpayers "at a greater liability for firefighters who are awarded duty disability benefits because of the presumption."

That's a law which was obviously written by the Firefighter's Association. Wouldn't be surprised to find a mirror-image law covering the cops.

Wonder why your municipal taxes are so high?
