Unemployment: The Fine Print

Ticker read ALL the numbers.

Short take: in the week ending 7/17/10, total UI claimants were 3.3 million.

One year prior, total UI claimants were 2.8 million.

That's a 500,000 person increase in 12 months of Obama Recovery.

And, of course, the current (and prior-year) number does NOT include those who dropped out altogether.

Depending on how this writedown is structured, it could be very effective.

Principle writedowns were inevitable anyway. Private lendors will need to do this at some point as well.
