Define the Terms, Editorialist

From the JS editorial of this AM:

There are other "loopholes" that should be closed when it comes to guns - key among them reinstating a ban on assault weapons that Congress allowed to lapse in 2004.

Just as a mental exercise, the JS editorial board should create a definition of "assault weapons" which they would propose to ban. They may not use pictures, nor may they copy/paste the language of the expired Federal silliness.

Think Pimentel's up to the task?

Neither did I.

It's interesting that the MJS folks never talk about having strict penalties for using a firearm in the commission of a felony. They'd rather deal with an inanimate object than with the crime. I'd much rather see a stiff, nay draconian, prison term (say mandatory 50 years without parole)for having a firearm in your possession during a felony, than blaming the gun for some thug's actions.
