The Elmbrook District's 4-K Coordinator thinks that 4-K is a great thing.
Amy Ziegler, a district 4-K coordinator, said that beyond academics, the social gains for 4-year-olds are substantial and vital. Getting children into school earlier helps them learn how to get along with peers in a group setting, follow directions and respect authority, she said.
So where do "parental units" figure in this?
Is Ms. Ziegler suggesting that the little darlings show up at school UN-able to 'get along', 'follow directions', and 'respect authority'?
Because if that IS the case, then Elmbrook's problems are just beginning.
And $2 million/year in additional costs are hardly going to fix that.
