It's not exactly news that Wisconsin over-taxes its residents. Our Government describes it as "love"--they love us so much and take care of us so much--that they simply have to extract more of our money than 44 other States.
But the really important part of the story was, as usual, near the end, and Owen caught it:
The report, which utilized Census data information, found that debt for state and local governments in the state rose 38 percent from 2000 to 2004, which was higher than inflation (10.4 percent) and personal income (16 percent).
This would be the Doyle Debt, no?

Actually, it would be the Thompson-McCallum debt that Doyle inherited when he took office in 2003.

OTOH, I think I've made clear what I think of Thompson. He's as craven a jack as any.
