Rothman Playing the "We Know This" Game

Jay Rothman, President of the UW System, makes a silly statement right out of Business School flapdoodle regarding the UW System's upcoming $60 million deficit:

...“At the end of the day, you never cut your way to success. You just can’t do that,” Rothman said....

This is one of those "Smart people know........" statements.  Too bad that it does not apply in business any more than in education.

In effect, Jay defines "success" as losing money, because!  Dammit, because!!

Actually, when student population goes down, the cost-of-facilities plus cost-of-professors plus cost-of-administrators goes UP on a per-student basis, Jay.  

Since you cannot attract students, Jay, cutting a few campuses is "cutting your way to success," financially.

What Rothman proposes is that the UW-System should continue to rip taxpayers to support its super-sized increase in per-student costs--because that is "success."

Many of us think otherwise, pal.

 

Cardinal "Non-Sequitur Tobin" of Newark

Egads.

This poor fellow cannot assemble a logical argument.

...“It’s true that we have a second amendment right to bear arms, but rights always involve responsibilities — in this case, the responsibility to protect the innocent and to secure public safety and good order,” the cardinal declares in a recent pastoral letter. “The mass shootings we are witnessing almost weekly now are a grave threat to the lives and well-being of all people.”...

...“Let’s voluntarily set aside our rights in order to witness the truth that only peace, and never violence, is the way to build a free society that is lived concretely in our homes, our neighborhoods, our communities, our nation and our world,” he writes....

So in +Tobin's analysis, "protecting the innocent and.....securing public safety and good order" (and self defense, for that matter) are not good reasons for owning weapons, so I should leave my wife and children defenseless in the face of armed assault, eh?

Something's missing here, and it's not in the Second Amendment.  

Robin Vos, Friend of Hunters

On the matter of "recreational" marijuana, Robin Vos has been correct.  

His thought?  "NO.  NEVER."  

That makes him a very good friend of hunters.

 It's not just the guns, either.

Meaning that a bunch of Minnesotans who are gun-hunters are in danger of fines, prison, and loss of their guns.

Same for Illinois and Michigan.

It would also appear that dope-smokers are NOT allowed to work in gun stores or in gun departments of retailers.

Hmmmm.

Predictably, dipshit Libertarians are going nuts over the ATF's announcement.  Apparently they prefer violent psychoses in gun owners because............because.

Ignorant MKE Alderman Rainey on "Gun Violence"

You expect some people to be ignorant wackos.

Yah, well, it's not really an "American problem," Khalif.

Read the map at this link and you''ll notice that a lot of Biden's Immigrants come from the countries that REALLY have a gun violence problem.  Those are the immigrants that you welcome, Khalif. 

But if you insist, Khalif, the "gun violence problem" in America is almost exclusively in Milwaukee, Chicago, St Louis, New Orleans, Los Angeles.............all of which are long-time Democrat-governed hell-holes.

In other words, sonny, mind your own business.

Only one voted correctly on the Spend America to Death Act.
