You should not be shocked. Surprised, perhaps, mostly at the timing........but Ukraine lost this war when they engaged Victoria Nuland and her coven to run it. IOW, it was over before it started.
There goes $100 BILLION or so--except for the "rebuilding" effort, the cash for which will end up in the paws of Dick Cheney and other, similar, characters.

There are a number of evil people populating the US government. Truly evil, not just 'overdrew my checking account' evil. Lying to kill millions is common with them.
The Ukraine govt is throughly corrupt, its freely elected president removed in favor of this actor, who promoted the persecution of his own people.
MAR, show me the hundreds of square miles Ukraine gained in their "summer offensive."
